CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />Water Main Replacement “Y” – Ph 1 Div 2 – EARTHWORK March 2024 <br />Work Order No. UP 3814 SP-150 <br />2-02.3(7) Salvage <br />(******) <br />Carefully salvage and deliver to the Owner in good condition, all materials of <br />recoverable value taken from the discarded facilities, unless otherwise indicated. <br />Materials and things deemed of no value by the Engineer shall become the <br />Contractor’s property to be removed and properly disposed. <br />Remove excess concrete, debris and dirt from castings and other materials the <br />Engineer designates suitable for salvage and that are not to be re-used elsewhere on <br />the Project. Deliver salvage castings and materials to the location designated by the <br />Engineer. <br />2-02.3(8) Waste Disposal <br />(******) <br />Provide waste site for disposal of materials not required for construction. Arrange <br />waste disposal at no expense to the City. Waste disposal shall meet the requirements <br />of 2-03.3(7)C of the Standard Specifications. <br />Any asbestos-cement material should be handled and abandoned in accordance with <br />requirements specified in 1-07.5(4)C and 2-02.1 and not allowed to dispose off-site. <br />2-02.3(9) Abandon Existing Water Valves In-place <br />(******) <br />Prior to abandoning existing water valves in-place, coordinate with City to have City <br />forces close valve. After City forces verify valve is closed, remove valve box and <br />extension, if any, and backfill with Gravel Borrow as specified in 9-03.14(1). Compact <br />backfill to a minimum of 95 percent maximum density in accordance with 2-03.3(14)D. <br />Provide pavement patch per COE std drawing 614 and 326. <br />2-02.4 Vacant <br />Revise 2-02.4 as follows: <br />2-02.4.1 Measurement <br />Bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be measured as <br />described in Division B – Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and Section 1- <br />09 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br />For curb and gutter cement removal with concrete pavement, the curb and gutter will be <br />considered as pavement removal and the measurement for payment will be to the back of <br />the curb. <br />2-02.5 Payment <br />Delete all paragraphs in 2-02.5 and substitute the following: <br />Payment for bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be <br />as described in Division B – Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and <br />Section 1-09 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br />If there is no bid item to cover pavement removals, then they shall be included with the <br />construction of the respective Work including, but not limited to, combined sewer pipe, <br />water main, water service line, manhole, side sewer pipe, storm drain pipe, catch <br />basins, and underground utility vaults. <br />Include curb and gutter and sidewalk removal with construction of the respective Work <br />including, but not limited to, combined sewer pipe, water main, water service line, <br />manhole, side sewer pipe, storm drain pipe, catch basins, and underground utility <br />vaults with no direct compensation made. <br />If there is no pay item for pipe abandonment, then it shall be included with the <br />construction of the respective Work including, but not limited to, sewer or storm drain
