Police and Fire Pension Board Minutes <br />City Of Everett <br />October 18, 2023 <br />1 <br />The special joint meeting of the Police and Fire Pension Board was called to order at 9:15 a.m. on <br />October 18, 2023. Board Members Stonecipher, Haugen, Neighbors, Thiessen, Neyens, Vitalich, <br />Sebald, and Jorve were present. Board Member Franklin excused. Board Attorney David Hall, <br />Kandy Bartlett, Marcy Hammer, Nick Biss and Ana Mechler; Human Resources; and Rick Gray, <br />Finance were also in attendance. <br />ALLOWANCES <br />The Police and Fire Pension Boards met jointly to discuss changes and to adopt updated plan <br />allowances. <br />HEARING AIDS: <br />The current allowance for hearing aids is $2150 ($4300 total) per ear every 24 months, with an <br />additional $50 for batteries and accessories. The proposal is to increase the amount to $3000 per <br />ear every 24 months with a $50 allowance for batteries/accessories. Discussion ensued regarding <br />hearing aid allowances. <br />Police Board <br />Moved by Jorve, seconded by Stonecipher, to adopt the proposed allowance of $3000 per ear <br />every 24 months with a $50 allowance for batteries/accessories. <br />Roll was called with all members voting yes except Board Member Franklin who was excused. <br />Motion carried. <br />Moved by Stonecipher, seconded by Neighbors, to increase the allowance to $3265 per ear <br />every 24 months with a $50 allowance for batteries/accessories. <br />Roll was called with all members voting yes except Board Members Haugen and Jorve, who voted <br />no. <br />Motion carried. <br />Moved by Thiessen, seconded by Neighbors, to retro the updated hearing aid allowance to <br />January 1, 2023.
