7 <br /> <br />AK. Industrial User-Specific (case-by-case basis) Local Limit: MAHL protective mass <br />based local limit not evenly distributed among users but allocated individually <br />based upon user need. <br />AL. Industry specific limits. Discharge limits for pollutants, applied on a case-by- <br />case basis, for which local limits, as described in Section 2.4, have not been <br />developed. <br />AM Industrial Wastewater. Any and all liquid or water borne waste from industrial or <br />commercial processes, except domestic sewage. <br />AN. Interceptor. An interceptor is a device designed and installed to separate and <br />retain deleterious or undesirable matter from normal wastes and permit normal <br />liquid wastes to discharge by gravity. <br />AO. Interference. A discharge which alone or in conjunction with a discharge or <br />discharges from other sources, either: (1) inhibits or disrupts the POTW, its <br />treatment processes or operations; (2) inhibits or disrupts its biosolids (sludge) <br />processes, use or disposal; or (3) is a cause of a violation of the City's NPDES <br />permit or of the prevention of sewage sludge use or disposal in compliance with <br />any of the following statutory/ regulatory provisions or permits issued <br />thereunder: Section 405 of the Clean Water Act; the Solid Waste Disposal Act <br />(SWDA), including Title II commonly referred to as the Resource Conservation <br />and Recovery Act (RCRA); any State regulations contained in any State sludge <br />management plan prepared pursuant to Subtitle D of the SWDA; the Clean Air <br />Act; the Toxic Substances Control Act; and the Marine Protection, Research, and <br />Sanctuaries Act. <br />AP. Liquid Waste. Liquid waste is the discharge from any fixture, appliance or <br />appurtenance in connection with a plumbing system which does not receive <br />fecal matter. <br />AQ. Local Limit. Specific discharge limits developed and enforced by the City upon <br />industrial or commercial facilities to implement the general and specific <br />discharge prohibitions listed in 40 CFR 403.5(a)(1) and (b). <br />AR. Lower explosive limit (LEL). Minimum concentration of a vapor-air mixture, which <br />if ignited propagates flame independent of an external source of heat. <br />AS. Maximum Allowable Discharge Limit (instantaneous). The maximum <br />concentration (or loading) of a pollutant allowed to be discharged at any time. <br />AT. Medical Wastes. Isolation wastes, infectious agents, human blood and blood <br />products, pathological wastes, sharps, body parts, contaminated bedding, <br />surgical wastes, potentially contaminated laboratory wastes, dialysis wastes,
