Figure 1) are <br />designed to provide information to the <br />end user about the sprinkler system <br />and its components. They are avail- <br />able with a variety of wording combi- <br />nations to meet the signing require- <br />ments of NFPA 13. <br />The five basic types of Identification <br />Signs are as follows: <br />Type A- Control Valve Sign <br />Type B- Multi -Purpose Text Signs <br />(See Below) <br />Type D- Fire Alarm Sign <br />Type E- Hydraulic Calculation Sign <br />Type B- Identification Signs are avail- <br />able with the following text options: <br />AIR CONTROL <br />AIR LINE <br />ALARM TEST <br />ANTIFREEZE SYSTEM <br />AUXILIARY DRAIN <br />CONTROL VALVE <br />DRAIN <br />DRAIN VALVE <br />INSPECTORS TEST <br />MAIN CONTROL <br />MAIN DRAIN <br />WARNINGS <br />The Identification Signs described <br />herein must be installed and main- <br />tained in compliance with this docu- <br />ment, as well as with the applicable <br />standards of the National Fire Pro- <br />tection Association, in addition to the <br />standards of any other authorities hav- <br />ing jurisdiction. Failure to do so may <br />impair the performance of these <br />devices. <br />The owner is responsible for maintain- <br />ing their fire protection system and de- <br />vices in proper operating condition. <br />The installing contractor or sprinkler <br />manufacturer should be contacted <br />with any questions. <br />Technical <br />Data <br />Material & Finish <br />18 gauge aluminum with mylar facing. <br />Width x Height <br />Inches <br />(ram) <br />Type A <br />9 x 7 <br />(229 x 178) <br />Type <br />6x2 <br />(152x51) <br />Type C <br />73/4 x 1Y4 <br />(197 x 32) <br />Type D <br />9 x 7 <br />(229 x 178) <br />Type E <br />5 x 7 <br />(127 x 178) <br />Installation <br />The Identification Signs are provid- <br />ed with 1/8 Inch (3,2 mm) diameter or <br />larger holes (or slots) in the corners for <br />easy attachment using standard hard- <br />ware chain, wire, plastic lock ties, or <br />light gauge metal strap (not included). <br />Care and <br />Maintenance <br />The following inspection procedure <br />must be performed as indicated, in ad- <br />dition to any specific requirements of <br />the NFPA, and any impairments must <br />be immediately corrected. <br />The owner is responsible for the in- <br />spection, testing, and maintenance of <br />their fire protection system and devic- <br />es in compliance with this document, <br />as well as with the applicable stan- <br />dards of the National Fire Protection <br />Association (e.g., NFPA 25), in addition <br />to the standards of any authority hav- <br />ing jurisdiction. The installing contrac- <br />tor or product manufacturer should be <br />contacted relative to any questions. <br />It is recommended that automatic sprin- <br />kler systems be inspected, tested, and <br />maintained by a qualified Inspection <br />Service in accordance with local re- <br />quirements and/or national codes. <br />After placing a fire protection system <br />in service, notify the proper authorities <br />and advise those responsible for mon- <br />itoring proprietary and/or central sta- <br />tion alarms. <br />INSPECTION PROCEDURE <br />Annual visual inspections are recom- <br />mended to ensure that Identification <br />Signs are properly located. <br />Page 1 of 4 AUGUST, 2007 TFP161S <br />
