Edgewater Creek Bridge Replacement November 2023 32 Acceptance of signs and notifications will be based on visual inspection that the 1 sign and notifications meet these requirements. 2 3 Site Cleanup of Biological and Physical Hazards 4 An initial cleanup of the site, including all preparatory work required to make the 5 worksite sanitary and safe in accordance with applicable laws and with the 6 Contract, shall be completed to remove all individuals, encampments, and 7 personal property from areas signed “No Trespassing”, and to address all 8 biological and associated physical hazards present on the project. Necessary 9 worker training, on and off site preparations, and personal protective equipment 10 shall be provided by the Contractor to complete this Work. If aggressive or 11 violent individuals are encountered, the Contractor shall notify the local law 12 enforcement agency to assist them in clearing the Work area. 13 14 Site cleanup of individual areas identified in the Health and Safety Plan shall be 15 performed no more than 30 days in advance of performing other Work in each 16 area. 17 18 The refuse generated by the site cleanup shall become the property of the 19 Contractor and shall be removed from the project. Personal property shall be 20 handled as required by this Specification and applicable laws. 21 22 Removal, Storage and Return of Personal Property 23 Personal property may include radios, audio and video equipment, sleeping 24 bags, tents, stoves and cooking utensils, lanterns, flashlights, bed rolls, tarps, 25 foam, canvas, mats, blankets, pillows, medication, personal papers, 26 photographs, books and other reading materials, luggage, backpacks or other 27 storage containers, clothing, towels, shoes, toiletries and cosmetics, clocks and 28 watches, and eye glasses. Personal property does not include building 29 materials such as wood products, metal, or rigid plastic. 30 31 Personal property items that are not refuse, contaminated, illegal or hazardous 32 shall be removed from the Work area and stored at a location near the project 33 site for return to the property owner. Items shall be placed in large transparent 34 plastic bags and stored in a manner that protects them from adverse weather 35 and theft. Reasonable efforts shall be made to place all items from each 36 encampment into a separate bag. Each bag shall be labeled with an inventory 37 to include a brief description of the contents, a description of the location that it 38 was removed from, and the date that it was removed from the Work area. The 39 Contractor shall not open closed items of personal property unless, in its 40 determination, it is necessary to do so to protect public safety. 41 42 The Contractor shall retain the property for 70-days. 43 44 If the name and contact information of the owner of a personal property item is 45 identified on that item, then for a period of not less than 10-days after removing 46 the property from the Work area, the Contractor shall attempt to notify the 47 apparent owner of the property and make arrangements for the owner to claim 48 the property. 49 50 The Contractor shall release the property to any individual who claims ownership 51 provided they are able to establish ownership by identifying the property and its 52
