Category 2: Sensitive information
To Whom it May Concern
At 9:30am on Monday, February 121h I, Andrew Erickson, met Bruce Melton with Plumb Pros LLC at 7227
Yew St. There had been an ongoing issue with the property owner's side sewer line being back up and a
question as to whether the line was connected to the City of Everett's sewer main or to the property
owner's septic tank. City of Everett records state that a sewer line servicing the property was connected
to the newly installed sewer main via a lateral stub in July 1973.
Several days prior to my visit, the City of Everett sewer department sent a crew to run a camera down
the sewer main and locate the lateral connection for the property. The sewer crew was able to locate
the lateral and mark the location of what appeared to be the transition from the property owner's 4"
sewer line to the City's 6" lateral. Upon my arrival on February 121h, workers for Plumb Pros had
excavated at the mark provided by the sewer department and exposed a 4" concrete line mortared into
the City's 6" lateral stub. Plumb Pros also excavated the lid and access points for the property's septic
tank. After Bruce Melton cut a window into the 4" line he ran a sewer camera up the line towards the
septic tank. After several feet the end of the sewer camera became visible in the septic tank. It was
now clear that the sewer line leaving the house was connected to the original septic tank which was
then connected to the 4" concrete line that tied into the City's 6" side sewer lateral. Any material
leaving the home through the sewer line would only enter the City's sewer main after traveling through
the septic tank.
The plan for Bruce Melton and Plumb Pros moving forward is to run a new side sewer line, bypassing the
septic tank and reconnect to the City's 6" stub. An inspection will then be requested to cover the new
line and put it into service. The septic tank will be decommissioned and backfilled to prevent future
failure and/or collapse. Any necessary notification regarding the septic tank and Snohomish County will
be handled by Plumb Pros LLC.
Andrew Erickson
City of Everett Construction Inspector
Category 2: For official use only / disclosure permissible by law.
