The driller had completed the timber lagging installation for the soldier
pile wall and demobilized equipment. The void space between the back of the lagging wall and the cut was filled with 5/8-
inch clean crushed rock. The earthwork contractor was in the process of installing the level spreader dispersion trenches
along the toe of the shoring wall. The trenches were approximately 2-foot in depth and width (perpendicular to the wall face).
Filter fabric was placed along the prepared trench excavations and pressure treated notched drain boards along the
downslope portion of the dispersion trenches were placed. The contractor planned to backfill the level spreader trenches
with clean crushed rock and then begin final grading of the area between the wall and the southern grading limits.
We recommended the finished grade surface below the wall is protected from erosion through placement of jute mat and
hydroseed for areas of exposed soil, the contractor agreed.
We have been providing geotechnical consultation and construction monitoring services on a part-time basis. Our findings
and conclusions are based on specific observations made while on site. Based on our observations, the level spreaders
excavations were prepared in accordance with the project plans and our recommendations. We will continue to monitor
site excavation.
Attachment: Site Plan
Distribution:
Signed:
