r . <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended to the City Council the <br /> approval of various amendments to the Land Use Map and the rezoning of specific <br /> properties to implement the Comprehensive Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council held a Public Workshop on January 27, 1997, and a Public <br /> Hearing on February 4, 1999, to consider the recommendations of the Planning <br /> Commission concerning various amendments to the Land Use Map and the rezoning of <br /> specific properties to implement the Comprehensive Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council finds that the proposed amendments to the Land Use Map <br /> of the Comprehensive Plan are consistent with the requirements of the Growth <br /> Management Act, consistent with the Vision 2020 Growth and Transportation Strategy, <br /> consistent with the Snohomish County County-Wide Planning Policies, and consistent <br /> with other policies of the Comprehensive Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the proposed amendments to the Land Use Map <br /> of the Comprehensive Plan promote the best long-term interests of the Everett <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds: <br /> 1. The Land Use Map did not designate the Hawthorne Elementary School property <br /> "school"; <br /> 2. The Land Use Map did not designate all of the Jackson Elementary School properties <br /> "school." <br /> 3. The Everett School District has acquired additional properties since 1994 for the <br /> expansion of Cascade High School facilities, which have been approved by the City <br /> through a Special Property Use permit. <br /> 4. The Mukilteo School District has declared the Glenwood Avenue site surplus. <br /> 5. The Land Use Map has incorrectly designated one privately owned property as <br /> "school" and one Mukilteo School District ACES High School property as <br /> "residential." <br /> 6. The Land Use Map did not designate the Olivia Park Elementary School property <br /> "school"; and <br /> 7. The Land Use Map incorrectly designated certain privately owned parcels near <br /> Voyager Middle School as "school." <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council concludes: <br /> 1. Correctly designating school district properties as "school" and privately owned <br /> properties for appropriate land uses provides for the public health, safety and welfare. <br />
