Chapter 19.03 EMC, Zoning Districts and Maps Page 3 of 11 <br />The Everett Municipal Code is current through Ordinance 4031-24, passed May 22, 2024. <br />Abbreviation Name <br />H Historic <br />I Institutional <br />PD Planned Development <br />APN Airport/Port/Navy <br />Compatibility <br />(Ord. 3774-20 § 5(C) (Exh. 3), 2020.) <br />19.03.030 Purpose and application of zone districts. <br />A. Agriculture Zone (AG). The purpose of the agricultural use zone is to provide and protect <br />areas for certain agricultural uses on lands which are not appropriate for residential, <br />commercial or industrial development at urban intensities. <br />B. Residential Zones. <br />1. Suburban Residential Zone (R-S). The purpose of the suburban residential zone is to <br />provide for and protect certain areas of the city for single-family detached residential uses <br />where topography or other environmental constraints require larger minimum lot sizes. <br />The secondary purpose of the R-S zone is to provide an interim “holding zone” in annexed <br />areas for which other zoning is not established at the time of annexation. <br />2. Single-Family Detached Low Density Residential Zone (R-1). The purpose of the single-family <br />detached low density residential zone is to provide for and protect certain areas of the city <br />for detached single-family residential uses. <br />3. Single-Family Medium Density Residential Zone (R-2). The purpose of the single-family <br />medium density residential zone is to provide for and protect areas of the city for <br />single-family detached and a limited amount of duplex residential use.
