Chapter 19.04 EMC, Definitions Page 26 of 55 <br />The Everett Municipal Code is current through Ordinance 4031-24, passed May 22, 2024. <br />19.04.070 Use definitions, industrial. <br />This section defines uses set forth in Table 5-3 in EMC 19.05.100. <br />“Aggregates extraction and related manufacturing” means the mining and processing of sand <br />and gravel resources and closely related manufacturing such as concrete or asphalt batch <br />plants, manufacturing of products using concrete or aggregate materials, storage and transport <br />of mined or excavated materials, and other closely related uses accessory to aggregate <br />extraction activities. <br />“Aircraft assembly” means the assembly of aircraft components into finished aircraft or the <br />repair, service or maintenance of aircraft, including engine testing, test flights, and major <br />overhaul or rebuilding. <br />“Distribution center” means a building designed to store products for retailers and wholesalers, <br />to be redistributed to another location or to customers. <br />“Freight terminal” means a transportation facility furnishing services incidental to air, motor <br />freight, and rail transportation. Examples of these facilities include: freight forwarding services; <br />freight terminal facilities; joint terminal and service facilities; overnight mail processing facilities; <br />packing, crating, inspection and weighing services; postal service bulk mailing distribution <br />centers; transportation arrangement services; trucking facilities, including transfer and storage. <br />“Heavy industrial, manufacturing, processing, fabrication or assembly” means uses that <br />generate potentially noxious or objectionable impacts such as noise, smoke, dust, vibration, <br />odor, or concussion, the use or outdoor storage of heavy equipment, or outdoor storage of <br />large quantities of bulk materials. <br />“Heliport” means an area of land, water, or structural surface designed, used, or intended to be <br />used for landing or takeoff of passengers or cargo from or by helicopters, plus accessory <br />buildings and uses. <br />“Light industrial, manufacturing, or assembly” means uses which are capable of being <br />constructed, maintained and operated in a manner designed to be compatible with adjoining <br />residential, commercial or other less intensive land uses. These uses do not generate noxious <br />or objectionable impacts such as noise, smoke, dust, vibration, odor, or concussion; do not <br />require the use of heavy equipment; and do not involve outdoor storage of large quantities of <br />bulk materials or heavy equipment.
