E7 performed an exhaustive search of the basement and
found no evidence of heat, fire or smoke. While moving a large TV away from the
electrical panel we experienced a shorting out power strip that was sparking and
emitting smoke. It had melted significantly. E7 was able to unplug the power strip
without causing any additional sparks. E7 removed power strip from house and cleared
the remainder of the basement. Ell reported an all clear/nothing found for the
remainder of the house.
E7 was able to find and check two electrical panels and there were no circuit
breakers tripped on either. There were large portions of the house without power and
no lighting available in the basement. The electrical systems clearly was not
functioning properly. E7 advised all occupants that they should vacate the building
until the electrical system could be checked by a licensed electrician and made
safe. We offered to contact the Red Cross but all occupants declined. Occupants
suggested they were going to find a hotel to stay at tonight and appeared to be
readying themselves as E7 left. Occupants declined any additional assistance from
E7.
NFIRS&1S Revision01Po07N4
5141 Printed 13:09 03/04/2019
