PIPELINE #2 & #3 REHAB PH 5/6 <br /> Description: Replace sections of Water Transmission Pipelines Nos. 2 & 3. <br /> The replacement program is part of a pipe rehabilitation program for these <br /> transmission lines that started in 1989. <br /> Location: The next project phase is for pipeline sections on Ebby Island, one <br /> section east of the Snohomish River crossing to the above ground pipes, and one <br /> section near Dead Water Slough. <br /> Justification: (Need/Demand) Water Transmission Lines Nos. 2 and 3 are both <br /> steel pipe and were originally constructed over 60 years ago. The City has been <br /> replacing the pipe in sections since 1989. This phase is for the pipe on Ebby <br /> Island, buried in corrosive soils. The pipe sections must be replaced, as the <br /> current sections are beyond the expected service life. Both transmission lines are <br /> planned to be replaced because of the permitting issues and the difficult <br /> construction conditions.
