Many people have
fire extinguishers but do not know how to use them. As part of the grant deliverables, this project will allow our
department to offer fire extinguisher training to city staff and our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
during public education events or by appointment.
The desired outcome is to provide citizens and staff with fire suppression training opportunities by acquiring a digital fire
extinguisher system. The fire trainer will be available for other departments to use for training. We will use the trainer for
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training when live fire is not available. Plus, we will have the system
available at public education events around the City. We will use this system for CERT training, city staff training, and
public education events.
nwwi11 ciirraccfid rmmlafinn ha maaciirar19
We will track the number of participants that attend the fire training.
How does this project support community and/or stakeholder collaboration to foster a culture of preparedness and
resilience?
r
We will use the fire trainer at public events such as National Night Out, neighborhood group meetings, Rotary, PTA's.
Training with this fire training system will help people feel a little more confident in the usage of fire extinguishers. That
way, if they do have a fire, they may be able to put it out before it gets out of control and burns up their houses. The more
practice, the more confident the user will be. The time to train and practice is before the fire starts.
DHS-FEMA-EMPG-FY22
Page 37 of 39 City of Everett, E23-372
