Such Samples or specimens shall be provided in ample time to permit making <br />proper test analysis and examinations before the Contractor plans to incorporate the material <br />into the Work. An independent testing laboratory will conduct tests of material in accordance <br />with the Specifications. In the absence of a specific test requirement, the Owner’s <br />Representative will determine the appropriate standard test to be used. <br />8.6.3. Certification <br />In cases where compliance of materials or Equipment to Contract requirements is not readily <br />determinable through inspection and tests, the Contractor shall provide properly authenticated <br />documents, certificates, or other proof satisfactory to the Owner’s Representative that the <br />materials and Equipment comply with the Contract requirements. These documents, <br />certifications, and proofs shall include performance characteristics, construction materials, and <br />physical or chemical characteristics of materials. The Contractor shall pay all associated costs <br />of such certification. <br />8.6.4. Inspection at Point of Manufacturing <br />The Contractor shall be responsible and reimburse the Owner for the costs of inspections <br />occurring outside of Whatcom, Skagit, Island, Snohomish, King, Pierce and Thurston counties if <br />(a) inspection and testing of materials or Equipment in the vicinity of the Work by the Owner is <br />not practicable, (b) the Contractor requests the Owner to inspect and test material or Equipment <br />at the point of manufacture, or (c) the Specifications require that inspection, testing or <br />witnessing of tests take place at the point of manufacture. Costs to be paid or reimbursed by the <br />Contractor include, but are not limited to, travel, subsistence, labor and lodging expenses of the <br />Owner’s inspector. <br />8.6.5. Testing and Commissioning of Completed Work <br />Testing and commissioning of all mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems and <br />completed portions of the Work, functioning as a completed system and the complete Project, <br />functioning as a completed facility, shall be done in accordance with the Specifications. <br />8.6.6. Storage of Materials and Equipment <br />Contractor shall store materials and Equipment so as to insure the preservation of their quality <br />and fitness for the Work. Stored Equipment and materials shall be located so as to facilitate <br />inspection. The Contractor shall be responsible for damages, loss or casualty occurring to <br />materials and Equipment until Final Acceptance. <br />8.6.7. Manufacturer's Directions <br />Manufactured articles, material and Equipment shall be transported, stored, applied, installed, <br />connected, erected, adjusted, tested, operated and maintained as recommended by the <br />manufacturer, unless otherwise specified herein. Manufacturer's installation instructions and <br />procedures shall be provided to the Owner prior to installation of the manufactured articles, <br />material and Equipment. <br />8.7. DEFECTIVE WORK <br />8.7.1. Correction of Defective Work <br />When, and as often as the Owner’s Representative determines through his or her inspection <br />procedures, material, Equipment or workmanship incorporated in the Project do not meet the <br />requirements of the Contract, the Owner’s Representative will give written notice of the <br />noncompliance to the Contractor. Within fourteen (14) days from the receipt of such notice, the <br />Contractor shall undertake the Work necessary to correct the deficiencies, and to comply with <br />the Contract. If the Contractor disagrees with the Owner’s Representative's determination and <br />believes that the corrective Work should be covered by a Change Order, he or she shall
