As a result of various market <br />conditions and supply chain challenges, the service bodies could not be ordered until <br />2024. The service bodies must be installed on vehicles before they can be used for daily <br />operations. There is a definitive need for an additional $670,000 of work to be <br />completed. Staff is requesting an amendment for an additional $800,000 to cover any <br />unforeseen work that may arise. The award amount for the vehicle upfit and service <br />body installation services is approximately $1,800,000 annually, including sales tax. <br />Project summary statement: <br />The Services Agreement authorizes city staff to request equipment to be installed on <br />city-owned vehicles as needed. Vehicle equipment and fabrication companies provide <br />equipment to build and install custom service bodies and miscellaneous auxiliary <br />equipment on City-owned vehicles and truck chassis. <br />Annually, the City of Everett purchases several incomplete truck and van chassis, pick-up <br />trucks, and empty but complete cargo vans destined to be made into service vehicles. <br />These vehicles require upfitting into vehicles before they can be used for daily <br />operations. Due to the critical nature of providing City services, certain department <br />vehicles may be prioritized. <br />Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): <br />Approve amendment No. 1 to Invitation for Bid #2023-157 Vehicle Upfit and Service <br />Bodies and authorize the Mayor to sign amendment No. 1 with Aalbu Brothers <br />Fabrication not to exceed $1,800,000 including Washington state tax. <br /> <br />City Council Agenda Item Cover Sheet
