DRAFT 4/5/24 Agreement No. 2024-02 <br /> <br /> <br />EXHIBIT B <br />THINNING PRESCRIPTION- <br /> <br /> <br />Thinning Prescription: Unit 1 (Stand X-01; Smallwood Thin), <br />Unit 2 (Stand X-02; Smallwood Thin), <br />Unit 3 (Stand Chaplain 3; Smallwood Thin) <br /> <br />• Purchaser shall leave a residual stand that will achieve the following evenly distributed <br />across each unit: <br /> <br />Average spacing of 16 feet x 16 feet (~170 residual trees per acre) <br /> <br />To accomplish this prescription, fallers shall harvest trees starting with smallest diameter trees <br />working up to the larger trees (thin from below), with no trees over 14 inches DBH to be cut. <br />The following take tree preference shall be followed to achieve the desired residual stand <br />spacing: <br /> <br />1) All hardwood species <br />2) Western Hemlock <br />3) Defective or diseased Douglas-fir <br />4) Smallest diameter Douglas-fir <br />• Examples of defect are trees with broken tops and little canopy, well developed spike <br />knots, and highly sinuous forms which should be prioritized for take. <br />• Where the prescription would leave an opening greater than 30 feet in diameter, the <br />Purchaser must leave a conifer take tree from the largest diameter, largest crown class that has the <br />best form and is undamaged. <br />• Western redcedar is not to be cut without prior approval of the Contract Administrator <br />(CA). Only trees necessary to facilitate harvest operations, such as corridors and skid trails, or <br />those which pose safety hazards shall be considered for approval. <br /> <br />• No trees over 14 inches DBH shall be cut without prior approval of the Contract Administrator <br />(CA).
