CITY OF EVERETT WEST MARINE VIEW DRIVE/ALVERSON AND 41 ST ST/GRAND AVE <br />PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS <br />STATE FUND# HLP-PB15(032) <br />WO #3630 July 25, 2024 <br />67 <br />1 On areas where irregularities or unavoidable obstacles make the use of mechanical <br />2 spreading and finishing equipment impractical, the paving may be done with other <br />3 equipment or by hand. <br />4 <br />5 When more than one JMF is being utilized to produce HMA, the material produced for <br />6 each JMF shall be placed by separate spreading and compacting equipment. The <br />7 intermingling of HMA produced from more than one JMF is prohibited. Each strip of HMA <br />8 placed during a work shift shall conform to a single JMF established for the class of HMA <br />9 specified unless there is a need to make an adjustment in the JMF. <br />10 <br />11 5-04.3(8) Aggregate Acceptance Prior to Incorporation in HMA <br />12 For HMA accepted by nonstatistical evaluation the aggregate properties of sand <br />13 equivalent, uncompacted void content and fracture will be evaluated in accordance with <br />14 Section 3-04. Sampling and testing of aggregates for HMA accepted by commercial <br />15 evaluation will be at the option of the Engineer. <br />16 <br />17 5-04.3(8)A1 General <br />18 Nonstatistical evaluation shall be used for the acceptance of HMA for this project. <br />19 <br />20 The Equivalent Single Axle Load (ESAL) for the mix design for the following area: <br />21 <br />22 Broadway 7,000,000.00 <br />23 Hewitt 7,500,000.00 <br />24 Rucker Avenue 8,500,000.00 <br />25 <br />26 The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA. The contractor may request a <br />27 change in the JMF. Any adjustment to the JMF will require the approval of the Project <br />28 Engineer and may be made in accordance with Section 9-03.8(7). <br />29 <br />30 5-04.3(9) HMA Mixture Acceptance <br />31 Acceptance of HMA shall be as provided under nonstatistical, or commercial evaluation. <br />32 <br />33 Nonstatistical evaluation will be used for the acceptance of HMA unless Commercial <br />34 Evaluation is specified. <br />35 <br />36 Commercial evaluation will be used for Commercial HMA and for other classes of HMA in <br />37 the following applications: sidewalks, road approaches, ditches, slopes, paths, trails, <br />38 gores, prelevel, temporary pavement, and pavement repair. Other nonstructural <br />39 applications of HMA accepted by commercial evaluation shall be as approved by the <br />40 Engineer. Sampling and testing of HMA accepted by commercial evaluation will be at the <br />41 option of the Engineer. <br />42 <br />43 The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA. The Contractor may request a <br />44 change in the JMF. Any adjustments to the JMF will require the approval of the Engineer <br />45 and may be made in accordance with this section. <br />46 <br />47 HMA Tolerances and Adjustments
