Per IBC 1010.1.4.5,the installation of security grilles are required to be openable from the inside without the
use of a key or special knowledge or effort. The current installation of the door and the cutsheet provided
appear to conflict. Currently the installation of this security grille is shown on the exterior of the building while
drawings indicate that the operation assembly is to be located on the inside. Please verify the door's
operation/installation and revise configuration as required. IBC 1010.1.4.5.
2. The door is required to be secured in the full-open position during occupancy by the general public. Please
provide additional literature substantiating that a mechanism is provided with the security grille to maintain the
full-open position as required. IBC 1010.1.4.5.
Thank you,
James Bronder, P.E.,S.E.
116 III Associate Engineer—Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/Th:8 a.m.—12 p.m & 1 p.m.—3 p.m.
everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
\ 3I3
