- • 'ci by ^ x e U .ORDINANCE NO . 1931 1 An Ordinance submitting to the legal voters of the City of 2 Everett , Washington, a proposed amendment to the charter of said 3 City with relation to the method of electing the Mayor of the 4 City, and Vice President of the City Council. 5 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 6 7 Section 1: That a proposed amendment to Section 9 of the City 8 of Everett with relation to the method of electing the Maybr of 9 said City, and Vice President of the City Council, be submitted to 10 the legal voters at said election in said City at a special munici- 11 pal election to be held in said City on May 25, 1920. 12 Section 2: Said proposed amendment shall be as follows : 13 "Sectioi 9 : Organization of Council, Election of Mayor of 14 the City and Vice President of the Council: That the Commissioner 15 receiving the highest popular vote, at his election) shall be 16 President of the Council and Mayorof the City. The Commissioner 17 receiving the second highest popular vote, at his election, shall 18 be Vice President of the City Council . The President of the Coun- 19 cil shall be Mayor of the City. He shall preside at all meetings 20 of the Council , and in his absence or disability the Vice President 21 shall perform the duties as President and Mayor,and under the pro- 22 visions of this Charter the Council shall consist of fiv e members, 23 and in the absence or disability of both President and Vice Presi- 24 dent the other members of the Council shall select one of their 25 number to perform the duties of President and Mayor. The Council 26 shall determine its own procedure." 27 28 Section 3 : That the form of ballot to be used at said elec- 29 tion shall be as follows: Method of electing mayor of City and 30 Vice President of Council - an ordinance amending Section 9 of the 31 City of Everett, and providing for the method of electing the Mayor -1-
