EVERETT 2044 <br />URBAN FORM ELEMENT <br />PROPOSED GOALS/POLICIES/ACTIONS <br />Everett 2044 <br />Planning our future together <br />UF-35 Connect industrial areas to each other, to the Everett Marine Port, and to regional destinations <br />by designated priority freight corridors. <br />UF-36 When siting essential public facilities, the city shall consider the project's need and goals, along <br />with its compatibility with surrounding land uses and other relevant criteria. <br />Corridors <br />UF-37 Make Everett's corridors and connectors thriving places for people that support and link <br />Everett's centers. <br />UF-38 <br />UF-39 <br />Plan streets and adjacent land uses to frame, shape, and activate public spaces of streets. <br />Establish land use and zoning supporting context -sensitive, well -designed, pedestrian -oriented <br />mid -scale residential development within walking distance of centers, corridors, and transit. <br />UF-40 Protect and connect the area's network of habitat areas and wildlife corridors, streams, parks, <br />and tree canopy. <br />Street Patterns <br />UF-41 Preserve the city's urban fabric of compact blocks and highly interconnected grid of streets in <br />the urban grid area. <br />UF-42 Guide the evolving street and block system in the suburban big block area in ways that build on <br />positive aspects of the area's large blocks, such as opportunities to establish mid -block open <br />space patterns and create new connections through blocks that make it easier to access <br />community destinations with pedestrian, bicycle, or multi -modal routes. <br />UF-43 Plan large site redevelopments into blocks up to 300' by 600'. <br />Preserving natural areas and habitats <br />UF-44 <br />Protect the quantity, quality and function of high value environmental assets identified in the <br />City's natural resource inventories, including: <br />a. Rivers, lakes, streams and associated riparian uplands <br />b. Floodplains <br />c. Riparian corridors <br />d. Wetlands and buffers <br />e. Groundwater <br />f. Trees and urban forests <br />g. Bays, estuaries, and marshes <br />h. Shorelines <br />i. Native and other vegetation species and communities that provide habitat value <br />j. Habitat complexes and corridors, rare and declining habitats such as wetlands, native oak <br />and habitats that support special -status or at -risk plant and wildlife species <br />k.
