I, rlAlvl <br />Everett 2044 <br />Planning our future together <br />EVERETT 2044 <br />PARKS, RECREATION, OPEN SPACE ELEMENT <br />PROPOSED GOALS/POLICIES/ACTIONS <br />PARKS, RECREATION, OPEN SPACE [PR] <br />Goal 1: Create a park and trail system that promotes active and healthy lifestyles. <br />PR-1 1 Provide a park system that makes it easy for people to be active year-round and improve health <br />outcomes in all communities. <br />PR-1.2 Encourage concessionaires to offer one or more healthy food and snacks choices at events and within <br />park facilities. <br />PR-1.3 As part of recreation programs or educational offerings, share information about physical activity, <br />nutrition, and substance abuse prevention as appropriate. <br />Goal 2: Promote inclusion across all public spaces, places, facilities, and programs. <br />PR-2.1 Make all parks, including playgrounds and restrooms, ADA accessible and inclusive. <br />PR-2.2 Encourage universal design of parks and trail facilities. <br />PR-2.3 Consider environmental supports and practices that promote inclusion for all community members. <br />Goal 3: Provide parks and recreation facilities within a 10-minute walk of each resident. <br />PR-3 1 Increase the amount of parks and trails for all residents in Everett consistent with level of service <br />standards. PR-3.2 <br />PR-3.2 Provide just and fair quantity, proximity and connections to quality parks, trees, green spaces, and <br />recreation facilities in Everett. PR-3.3 S <br />PR-3.3 Seek to fill gaps in parks, trees, and trails in underserved areas. PR-3.4 <br />PR-3.4 Work with School Districts on off -hours "drop in" to facilities in underserved areas. PR-3.5 <br />PR-3.5 Remove barriers to parks and improve sidewalks and bike facilities to improve access to parks. <br />CAPACITY <br />Goal 4: Invest in the capacity, quality, and sustainability of the parks and trails system as growth occurs. <br />PR-4 1 Adopt a level of service addressing park and trail quantity, park distribution, and investment levels to <br />meet the needs of Everett's growing community. The City's levels of service are stated in Table 3. <br />PR-4.2 Maintain and develop recreation facilities to meet recreation program needs of the Everett community. <br />Goal 5: Maintain or improve the quality of the system for current residents as the system expands to meet <br />the needs of growth. <br />PR-5.1 Phase improvements in the park and trail system to remove barriers and increase equity through: <br />a. Improving existing parks. <br />b. Opening undeveloped parkland in the City's inventory. <br />c. Adding new trails that connect neighborhoods to existing parks. <br />d.
