GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION
EVERETT,WASHINGTON
March 2, 2018
5.1.2 Groundwater
At the time of our investigation, groundwater was encountered in several of the test pits. Approximate
depth to groundwater in these test pits are as follows:
Test Pit Depth to Groundwater
TP-4 3&6 feet
TP-5 3 feet
TP-6 4 feet
TP-7 2.5 feet
TP-8 7 feet
Groundwater was not encountered in the other test pits during our evaluation. Groundwater appears to
be perched within the sandy deposits in the lower elevation portion of the site area.
Water table elevations often fluctuate over time. The groundwater level will depend on a variety of factors
that may include seasonal precipitation, irrigation, land use, climatic conditions and soil permeability.
Water levels at the time of the field investigation may be different from those encountered during the
construction phase of the project.
6.o Geologic Hazards
6.i Steep Slope Hazard
Slopes with magnitudes greater than about 4o percent and vertical relief of at least io feet are typically
designated as potentially geologically hazardous(steep slope/landslide hazards). There are natural and
modified slope areas in the southeast, north, and through the central portion of the site that meet this
criterion.
The site consists of a portion of a ravine that was locally affected by previous grading activities(fill
placement, soil removal,re-grading). In general, the south half of the site slopes inward from the east and
west at magnitudes of 5 to 5o percent and topographic relief of about 4o feet. Much of the south and east
sides of this area appear to have been unaffected by previous grading and vegetated with mostly native
species. These slopes are stable in their current configuration and are not prone to landslide activity in
their current state.
The north half of the site generally slopes downward toward the east. Near the north property lines,
slopes extend downward toward the south and into the ravine area at magnitudes ranging from io to ioo
percent. The topographic relief in this area is about 5o feet. Within the proposed building lots 7 through
io,there are local slopes with magnitudes approaching ioo percent and relief of about io to 15 feet. Many
slope areas within the property are obscured by heavy vegetation.
4
