SITTS & HILL ENGINEERS, INC.
TACOMA, WASHINGTON (253)474-9449 JOB: 17659
DESIGNED: EMF DATE: 03/17/2020 8
PROJECT: SITE PUMPED INDUSTRIAL WASTE CHECKED: BKL DATE: 03/17/2020
Precast Concrete Panel Flexural Strength:
The precast concrete panels will be reinforced with #5 reinforcing bars at 6" O.C, each
way at the bottom face of the panel and with #4 reinforcing bars at 6" O.C. each way at
the top face of the panel. Per the attached Enercalc beam analysis of the precast
concrete panel spanning over the width of the trench, the panels can resist half an axle
load in flexure and are found to be OK.
P .":=P=20.8 kip Precast panel design load
Channel Strength:
The channels in the welded steel frames are checked for their ability to resist a single
wheel load in flexure. This load distribution is based on the assumption that the wheel
group dimensions and load transfer within the precast assemblies will ensure that no
single channel sees more than a single wheel load. Per the attached Enercalc analyses,
the channels are OK in flexure.
10.4 kip Channel design load
Pchalm(i:=0.5 P= ,
Trench Lid Support Member '
W8x24 beams will be provided at unsupported trench lid bearing edges at corners or
turns in the trench alignment. These beams are only required at the 3'-0" x 2'-0" trench,
and are found to be capable of supporting half an axle load per the attached Enercalc
analysis. A 1/2" single shear plate connection with (2) 1" 0 A325 bolts with a capacity of
37 kips (ASD) per AISC SCM Table 10-10a approximates the beam shear strength and
can withstand the design loads.
P beam:=P=20.8 kip Lid support beam design load ,
I
I
