I SITTS & HILL ENGINEERS, INC.
TACOMA, WASHINGTON (253)474-9449 JOB: 17659
DESIGNED: EMF DATE: 03/17/2020 37
IPROJECT: SITE PUMPED INDUSTRIAL WASTE CHECKED: BKL DATE: 03/17/2020
45-01 PUMP SUPPORT
IIA 20 HP pump is to be installed on an existing steel platform in the basement at the south end of
the 45-01 building adjacent to an existing pump. The existing platform framing consists primarily
of wide flange structural framing members supported by the perimeter concrete walls and by
I hangers up to the hanger floor concrete beams above.A portion of the existing platform framing
was modified as part of a hanger modernization project, and these modifications included
upgrading some of the 8WF17 typical framing members to W16x31 sections, swapping out the
I primary continuous 8WF24 beam with a W18x40 member, and replacing the 7/8" 0 rod hangers
with C6x8.2 members. New W12x26 structural steel framing members will be installed between
the existing W16x31 structural framing members underneath the grating to support the pump,
land the pump stilt-mounted pump base will be set directly on these new support members. The
existing grating will be cut as required for the stilts. The existing platform and new framing
members were modeled according to the record drawings in RISA-3D. The platform is checked
1 for 10psf dead and 100psf live load in addition to the pump loads indicated below. The existing
pump sits directly on the grating, and the design load for the new pump was applied as an area
load to estimate the weight contribution of the existing pump. The existing and proposed framing
was found to be adequate to support the new pump loads per the attached RISA-3D analysis.
1 WI,:=937.2 lbf Pump and base weight per attached
IW,,,:=376 lbf Motor weight per attached
W:=1.2.1.25• (Wi,+W„)= 1970 lbf Weight of pump assembly with impact factor per ASCE 7-10
Section 4.6.3 and miscellaneous weight increase factor
P:= W =492 lbf Load per stilt
I 4
w:= W =233 psf Estimated area load of existing pump assembly
58 in•21 in
I
I
I
1
I
I
