Therefore, the authorization to purchase the equipment is
time-sensitive.
Project summary statement:
The existing fleet of fire department SCBA equipment has reached the end of its service
life and needs to be replaced. This purchase will replace the entire fleet of SCBA and
related accessories in 2025 with no interruption to ongoing fire department operations.
The Fire Department anticipates the SCBA assets to have a life expectancy of fifteen (15)
years. The proposed replacements are NFPA compliant and compatible and
interchangeable with our neighboring jurisdictions, both of which are essential to
firefighter safety.

The City has an interlocal agreement with Sourcewell that allows purchases from its
competitively awarded contracts in lieu of soliciting bids on our own. The requested
SCBA apparatus, air cylinders, and related accessories are available for purchase from
Sea-Western Inc. through the Sourcewell competitively bid contract #011284-SEW/COE
2024-100.
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council):
Award and authorize the purchase of SCBA apparatus, air cylinders, and related
accessories from Sea-Western Inc. using the Sourcewell contract #011824 / COE #2024-
100 for approximately $1,582,516.04.

City Council Agenda Item Cover Sheet
