From: Cindy Bergsma
Sent: Thursday, March 31, 2022 7:23 AM
To: Mena Flemon; Kelsey Heyd
Cc: Terri Jorgenson; Cindy Bergsma
Subject: RE: [EXTERNAL] Hello
Follow Up Flag: Follow up
Flag Status: Flagged
Hello Mena,
We don't go out to sites unless a permit has been issued.
Please see our digital record center for all permit records that have occurred.
https://everettwa.gov/1785/Digital-Records-Center
We have a process for when we find unpermitted work.
We strongly suggest securing the services of a design professional licensed by the State of Washington
(architect, engineer)to develop plans and details that show the project will meet code.
The plans need to clearly depict the extent of the work proposed (or completed without permits) as well
as address the code deficiencies found within the structure. Regardless of whether the decision is to
remove or keep the un-permitted work, the construction plans need to show (at a minimum):
1. What the existing structure looked like prior to the alterations completed without permits.
2. What the structure's current condition looks like.
3. What has been altered and how it meets current code requirements. Include all un-permitted
alterations to the property/structure and/or any proposed construction necessary to bring the
property/structure into code compliance.
Plans also need to reflect compliance with the Land Use and Zoning requirements in the Everett
Municipal Code. The plans will be reviewed for compliance with the City's adopted codes in place at the
time of permit submittal, not the codes in place when the work occurred.
All unapproved work(including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and framing systems etc.)
installed/altered without permits and inspection approval will need to be exposed.
The submittal would need to be dropped off at 3200 Cedar St, 2nd floor or mailed in. Building hours are
7:30am—4pm. There is a submittal bin at top of stairs.
You may find our most up to date applications and checklists online:
https://everettwa.gov/permits
BUILDING PERMIT APP
https://everettwa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/27476
