January 29, 2025 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 12:30 p.m., January 29, <br />2025, by President Schwab. <br /> <br />Upon roll call, it was found that Mayor Franklin and Council Members Zarlingo, Fosse, Bader, <br />Rhyne, Vogeli, Tuohy, and President Schwab were present. <br /> <br />Council Member Rhyne led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Council Member Bader recited the land acknowledgement. <br /> <br />The minutes of the January 22, 2025, meeting were approved. <br /> <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION: <br /> <br />The City Council recessed for an executive session at 12:33 p.m., and began the executive session <br />at 12:35 p.m. At 12:45 p.m., President Schwab requested an additional 5 minutes. The executive <br />session continued at 12:47 p.m. and Council reconvened at 12:52 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin provided comments on the priorities of the Mayors and Business Leaders for <br />Public Safety Coalition during this legislative session. She stated they are focusing on four main <br />topics this year that include youth violent crime prevention, involuntary treatment incompetency <br />evaluations, unlawful possession of firearms, and state funding for indigent defense. <br /> <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> <br />The Council received five (5) written comments and the following members of the public spoke: <br />Bill Tsoukalas, Tom Lane, and Mary Swenson. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL <br /> <br />Several council members thanked the public commentors. <br /> <br />Vice President Zarlingo provided comments on the comprehensive update, and attended the <br />Snohomish County Tomorrow’s Steering Committee, and the Pinehurst-Beverly Park <br />Neighborhood meetings.
