Lateral System: <br /> 7. This project consists of a mostly glass entry structure which is replacing an existing entry structure. The <br /> existing and proposed entry structures are small appendages to a significantly larger existing structure of <br /> varying age and construction materials. The portions of the existing larger building that are adjacent to <br /> the proposed lobby are brick masonry and wood frame construction. By inspection, seismic loads will <br /> govern the lateral design. The seismic mass of the entry structure is much less than 5%of the existing <br /> structure. An analysis in the north south direction has been prepared and submitted with the plan review <br /> response. In this analysis,all the lateral load in the north-south direction is resisted by a new steel frame. <br /> Please see the calculations and structural drawings that are submitted with the plan review. <br /> 8.
