2. The Rhinobond membrane attachment application is acceptable. Manufacturer must
review the contract drawings and provide a tested system fastener pattern that meets or
exceed the specified wind pressure requirements for the local codes.
3. The roofing membrane shall be unrolled and positioned with proper overlap. Minimum
overlap shall be as specified by the manufacturer/supplier. Laps shall be shingled with the
slope of the roof, where possible. Field seams shall be perpendicular or parallel to the
direction of water flow, where possible.
4. The attachment method used shall conform to the recommendations of the SPRI
manufacturer/supplier and approved shop drawings.
5. For the plate-bonded system, the membrane shall be heat welded to the polymer-coated
plates used to secure the insulation boards using the recommended heat induction
machines as prescribed by the manufacturer.
B. Seaming:
1. The overlapping sheets shall be welded together using hot air as recommended by the
manufacturer.
2. The welded seams shall be checked for continuity and integrity. Test cuts or coupons shall
be taken, 1 per every 100 sq.ft. of membrane installed and each time the welding machine
is turned off and on again. All imperfections or cold welds shall be stripped in as
prescribed by the manufacturer.
3. The seam shall be completed by the application of a seam sealant daily, if required by the
manufacturer.
C. Membrane Termination/Securement:
1. Securement shall be provided at all membrane terminations at the perimeter of each roof
level, roof section, curb flashing, skylight, expansion joint, interior wall, penthouse, and
any other horizontal-to-vertical transitions.
2. Securement shall be provided at any angle change where the slope or combined slopes
exceed(s)two inches in one horizontal foot.
3. Mechanical securement shall meet the pull-out strengths required by the SPRI Wind
Design Guide or manufacturer's requirements, whichever is more stringent.
4. All membrane termination fasteners shall be sealed in accordance with the SPRI or
manufacturer's requirements, whichever is more stringent.
5. Air Seal: The membrane is to be sealed and mechanically secured at 6" o.c. at all
perimeters at the elevation where the bay doors are positioned. Apply sealing SA
membrane at all penetrations within the Zone 3 and Zone 2 area over the bay door
elevation.
6. Lay out membrane with 2" minimum overlap and allow it to relax. Clean the lap splice area
and prime the surfaces (if required) as prescribed by the manufacturer. Join the sheets of
membrane using hot air weld with a hot air robotic automatic welder as prescribed by the
manufacturer. At end laps and "T"joints, provide cover strips as required.
D. Yellow Safety Warning Line:
1. Install 10'from roof perimeter edge where parapet walls are less than 42" tall.
3.07 FLASHINGS:
A. General:
1. Contractor shall complete all flashings at roof terminations, curbs, and penetrations in
accordance with manufacturer's approved details and in compliance with the drawings.
B. Base flashings:
1. The membrane is to be sealed and secured at all perimeters at the elevation where the
bay doors are positioned with an approved SA membrane. Apply sealing SA membrane at
all penetrations within the Zone 3 and Zone 2 area over the bay door elevation.
2. Under no conditions shall the new membrane flashing cover weep holes or any form of
through wall drainage.
SEA00511 / Prologis - SEA00511 07 5400 - 10 THERMOPLASTIC MEMBRANE
- FY24- Everett 1 - Capital ROOF SYSTEM
Roofing Project
