The base of all foundation excavations should be free of water and loose <br /> soil prior to placing concrete. Concrete should be placed soon after excavating to reduce bearing <br /> Isoil disturbance. Care should be taken to prevent wetting or drying of the bearing materials during <br /> construction. Excessively wet or dry material or any loose/disturbed material in the bottom of the <br /> Ifooting excavations should be removed/reconditioned before foundation concrete is placed. <br /> If unsuitable bearing soils are encountered at the base of the planned footing excavation, the <br /> excavation should be extended deeper to suitable soils and the excavated footprint expanded as <br /> Ishown below.
