Cobalt Geosciences,LLC
- COBALT
-.4 GEOSCIENCES P.O.Box 82243
Kenmore,Washington 98028
June 9,2022
Dave Nolan
Dave.nolan214 rwgmail.com
RE: Geotechnical Evaluation
Proposed Residence
18xx Holbrook Avenue
Everett,Washington
In accordance with your authorization, Cobalt Geosciences, LLC has prepared this letter to
discuss the results of our geotechnical evaluation at the referenced site.
The purpose of our evaluation was to provide recommendations for foundation design, grading,
and earthwork.
Site Description
The site is located at 18xx Holbrook Avenue in Everett, Washington. The site consists of one
rectangular parcel(No.00549400501500)with a total area of 0.27 acres.
The remainder of the property is undeveloped and vegetated with grasses, ivy, ferns, blackberry
vines, bushes, and variable diameter evergreen and deciduous trees.
The site slopes downward from west to east at magnitudes ranging from 5 to 150 percent and total
relief of about 20 feet. The steeper slopes are near the east property line. These slopes have likely
been created or modified through prior grading (cuts and fills) and are locally faced concrete
walls. The steeper slopes are adjacent to the residence to the east and decrease in magnitude to
the north. The slope relief is generally 8 feet or less.
There are local rockery walls along the north and west property lines. These walls are about 2 to
4.5 feet tall and face to the north and west, respectively.
The site is bordered to the north and east by residential properties, to the west by Darlington
Lane, and to the south by Holbrook Avenue.
The proposed development includes a new multi-story residence with basement areas.
Stormwater will include infiltration or other systems depending on feasibility. Site grading may
include cuts and fills of 9 feet or less and foundation loads are expected to be light.
We should be provided with the final plans to verify that our recommendations remain valid and
do not require updating.
Area Geology
The Geologic Map of the Everett Quadrangle, indicates that the site is near the contacts between
Transitional Beds,Vashon Advance Outwash, and Vashon Glacial Till.
Vashon Glacial Till includes mixtures of silt, sand, gravel, and clay deposited during glacial
advance. These deposits are typically dense below a weathered zone.
www.cobaltgeo.com (206)331-1097
