(AESI) has completed a geologic hazard
reconnaissance at the Miles residence, located at 505 Laurel Drive in Everett, Washington
(Snohomish County Parcel No. 00562000000007). We understand that the current plan is to build
a new outdoor swimming pool, with cast -in -place concrete retaining walls, and that the City of
Everett (City)has required a "Geotechnical Assessment" for the proposed project, per EMC
19.37.080(B)(1), as it lies within 200 feet of mapped Geologically Hazardous Areas, along with
soils parameters for use in retaining wall design. Our site review and this letter are being
completed for your use to address the City's Geotechnical Assessment requirement for your
planned pool project.
SITE CONDITIONS
The subject site is an approximately 0.47-acre parcel with an existing single-family residence. The
residence includes a main level and a lower -level daylighting to the rear (north), and an attached
garage. Laurel Drive loops around the front (south) side of the residence to the rear (north) side.
Single-family residential properties are located to the east and west. Additional single-family
residences are located between the northern leg of Laurel Drive and a steep slope leading down
to the northwest approximately 150 vertical feet to the BNSF railroad tracks and the Port of
Everett. The approximate location of the proposed swimming pool, to the rear of the existing
residence, lies greater than 150 feet from the top of this slope.
Topography is generally gently sloping down to the north through the subject site. Vegetation at
the site consists chiefly of grass lawn areas, landscaping shrubbery, and deciduous and evergreen
trees. We observed a large, vertically -oriented evergreen tree along the north boundary of the
site, suggesting that ongoing deep-seated slope movement is not occurring at the subject site.
We did not observe indications of slope instability, such as bowed or tilted trees, naturally
Kirkland I Tacoma I Mount Vernon
425-827-7701 1 www.aesgeo.com
