KAISER PERMANENTE Site Prep #1 Electrical Service <br />ASC & Clinic (HUB) March 18, 2020 <br />Everett, WA Project No. 19.05002.00 <br />SECTION 21 10 00 - WATER -BASED FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS <br />PART 1-GENERAL <br />1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br />A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary <br />Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. <br />1.2 SUMMARY <br />A. This Section includes fire -suppression piping and equipment for the following building <br />systems: <br />1. Dry -pipe fire -suppression system, including piping, valves, specialties, automatic <br />sprinklers, air compressor(s) and accessories. <br />1.3 DEFINITIONS <br />A. Working Plans: Documents, including drawings, calculations, and material specifications <br />prepared according to NFPA 13 and NFPA 14 for obtaining approval from authorities <br />having jurisdiction. <br />1.4 SYSTEM PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Design sprinkler system according to the following and obtain approval from authorities <br />having jurisdiction. <br />1. Sprinkler Occupancy Hazard Classifications: As follows unless indicated <br />otherwise: <br />a. Parking Garages: Ordinary Hazard, Group 1. <br />2. Minimum Flow Density (per square foot) for Closed Head Automatic -Sprinkler <br />Piping Design: As follows: <br />a. Ordinary -Hazard, Group 1 Occupancy: 0.15 gpm over 1500- sq. ft. area. <br />3. The area of operation reduction allowed by NFPA Standard 13 will not be <br />permitted where quick response sprinkler heads are used in accordance with the <br />provisions of this specification section. <br />4. Maximum Protection Area per Sprinkler: As follows: <br />a. Ordinary Hazard: 130 sq. ft. <br />b. Other Areas: According to NFPA 13 recommendations, unless otherwise <br />indicated. <br />B. Components and Installation: Capable of producing piping systems with 175-psig <br />minimum working -pressure rating, unless otherwise indicated. <br />1.5 SUBMITTALS <br />A. General: See Section 23 05 00 for general requirements of Product Data, Shop <br />Drawings, Reports and Certificates, and Operation and Maintenance data submittals. <br />B.
