Geotechnical Engineering Report-Revised lrarracon
Kaiser Everett Medical Center Everett,Washington
December 18, 2019 Terracon Project No. 81195071 GeoReport
REPORT SUMMARY
Topic ' Overview Statement
Based on the information provided on September 12, 2019, the project will consist
of two possible construction options.
Option 1:
Construct a 4-story(approximate 231,000 square foot)parking structure to
the west of the existing medical office building and a new 4-story
Project (approximate 138,000 square foot) hub/ASC building south of the existing
Description medical office building.
- Option 2:
Construct a 4-story(approximate 218,000 square foot)parking structure to
the south of the existing medical office building and a new 4-story
(approximate 120,000 square foot) hub/ASC building west of the existing
medical office building.
Existing pavement from 0 ft to'/z ft.
Loose to medium dense silty sand (fill/ reworked glacial till) generally encountered
between 3 to 8 ft deep.
Dense to very dense silty sand (glacial till) encountered below the fill and reworked
Geotechnical glacial till.
Characterization Very stiff silt (Lacustrine Deposits) was encountered in the northern portion of the
site below the fill to a depth of 11 '/2 feet with very dense silty sand below.
Cobbles and boulders were encountered in some borings at about 13 ft BGS in the
approximate southern half of the site.
Groundwater was encountered; however, this water is likely perched natural or
nuisance water that has infiltrated down to the glacial till.
Earthwork Remove existing pavement and fill where encountered.
The existing fill may be suitable for reuse as structural fill during dry conditions.
Building support using shallow foundations appears appropriate.
Allowable bearing pressure for shallow foundations:
up to 6,000 psf for very dense, glacial till.
Shallow ■ up to 3,000 psf for medium dense, very stiff native soils and compacted
Foundations structural fill.
Anticipated settlements: < 1-inch total, < '/2-inch differential over 50 feet.
Remove fill as noted in Earthwork where encountered.
Subgrade to be prepared as noted in Earthwork.
■ Light-duty: 3-inch asphalt over 4-inch crushed aggregate base
Pavement ■ Heavy-duty: 3-inch asphalt over 6-inch crushed aggregate base
Loading dock and dumpster pads: 6-inch Portland cement concrete over 6-
inch crushed aggregate base
General This section contains important information about the limitations of this geotechnical
Comments engineering report.
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable i
