Selena Fitch
Fitch Design Company
Plan Check Number: B211-009, First Building Structural Review
January 25, 2023
Structural
1. Structural special inspections may be required for this project (shear wall nailing closer than 4
inches, and placement of reinforcement). A statement on special inspections has not been
provided and should be provided on the plans. The statement should include a table listing each
type of special inspection and should specify the extent of each inspection (e.g., continuous,
periodic) per IBC Section 1704.3.1. The table should include special requirements for seismic
and wind resisting systems as required by IBC Sections 1704.3.2 and 1704.3.3, respectively.
See IBC Sections 107.1, 1704.2.3, 1704.3, 1705.11.1, Table 1705.3.
2. Please see Geotechnical Report by Geo Group Northwest, Inc. dated July 26t", 2022.
Recommendations regarding a conventional strip footing were presented for a detached garage.
The geotechnical report should be updated to reflect the proposed work for the 3-level addition
to the existing house. R106.1.1
3. See Geotechnical Notes on Sheet S01, Foundation Plan on Sheet S02, and Detail 1 on Sheet
S07. The depth of the footing should be updated to comply with the recommendations of the
geotechnical report (see previous comment). Providing a reference to the geotechnical report
does not satisfy this requirement. R106.1.1
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers-of-record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Respectfully,
Rakeeb Khan
Residential Plans Examiner
(425)257-7263
rkhan@everettwa.gov
S:\RKhan\2023\B2211-009_R1.docx
3200 Cedar Street © 425.257.8810 O everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 2 of 2
