Calculation pages 22 and 23 referenced in the
response do not provide a splitting analysis of the foundation to verify that confinement will be
maintained in the footings to preclude failure of the structure. Footing Detail 01/52.0 should be
provided with top reinforcement per ACI 318-14 Section 10.7.6.1.6.Alternatively,an analysis per Section
17.2.3.5.3 should be performed to substantiate that splitting of the foundation does not occur from
flexural restraint of the embedded posts.See IBC Section 1604.1 and 1604.4.
Response 1: Structural calculations have been amended to include verification that the unreinforced
footing can resist breakout. See page 29 of the calculation set marked Revision 2 and dated July 17th,
2023. Based on these results, the original design is structurally adequate.
Please feet free to contact our office with any additional questions or comments regarding this project.
Sincerely,
Owen M.Anderson, E.I.T.
Design Engineer gip, J.
