CASCADE CREST CONSULTING ENGINEERS,INC.
September 13,2024
Commercial Industrial Roofing,Inc.
3621 12111 Street SW
Lynnwood,WA 98087
Attn: Alexander Isaev
RE: Proposed Roof Overlay
Heidelberg Asphalt Batch Plant Building
222 W. Marine View Drive
Everett, Washington
Parcel No: 29050700101200
Cascade Crest Consulting Engineers,Inc. (CCCE)has performed a structural review of the roof
framing for the Plant Building(only)at the above referenced project to verify support for a proposed
roof overlay(recovering). Our review consisted of calculations based on information gathered
during our site observations conducted on September 5,2024, field dimensions provided by
Commercial Industrial Roofing(CIR)during our site visit, and proposed roofing weight information
provided to us by CIR. The existing roof system consisted of a standing seam metal roof only(i.e.,
no previous overlay). This letter summarizes our observations and findings.
Existing Building Description
The project consists of a one-story,—11,227 sf manufactured metal building, which according to
Snohomish County property records was constructed in 1995. The building is approximately 103' x
109' in plan and 80' in height.
Based on our site observations, the typical roof framing consists of a standing seam metal deck roof
placed over a 1"fiberglass insulation barrier which is supported by 8"deep,light gage Z-channels at
36 inches on center, which in turn span to tapered steel girders and columns at 30 feet on-center. The
exterior walls also utilize metal siding supported by C-channel wind girts spanning between columns.
The building is likely supported by concrete spread footings, although a pile foundation system may
also have been provided. The ground floor predominately consists of a concrete slab.
The original construction drawings for the buildings were not provided for our review. Therefore,
general dimensions were obtained during the site visit for the critical roof members. The roof live
load used in the original design have not changed in the current code(25 psf). Due to the lack of
parapets,no snow drift loads are anticipated.
The existing roof weight was assumed based on the information gathered during our site visit and
determined to be approximately 4.71b/sf including the metal roof, insulation, joists, and sprinkler
lines. The existing roof consisted of 1 layer of standing seam metal decking(assumed 20 gage
thickness). The joists were assumed to be 8ZS2.75x105,Fy=55ksi based on the dimensions provided
and the required capacity for the original design criteria.
Cascade Crest Consulting Engineers-PO Box 2242,Sisters,OR 97759-(541)419-5139
