• <br /> ORDINANCE No. 1867 <br /> An Ordinance relating to the handling and transportation of <br /> explosives within the city of Everett, amending ordinance No. <br /> 1494 and declaring an emergency. <br /> Section: That section 2 of ordinance No. 1494 be amended <br /> to read as follows <br /> "Section 2: Any person, firm or corporation desiring to <br /> manufacture, transport, sell, use, care for, keep'or give away, <br /> high explosives or inflammables or other substances of like nature , <br /> or any materials, compounds, combinations or things whatsoever <br /> which may tend to increase fire hazard, or to conduct any haz- <br /> ardous business or operation, or to perform any service of like <br /> dangerous character, within the limits of this city, shall make <br /> application in writing to the Commissioner of Safety, and it will <br /> be illegal to proceed with such manufacture, transportation, <br /> sales or use of such high explosives , etc. , until a license or <br /> permit shall have been issued by the Commissioner of safety. <br /> In all applications for permits to transport explosives within <br /> the city of Everett the applicant shall state the points to and <br /> from which it is proposed to transport said explosives and no <br /> explosives shall be transported within the city whatsoever unless <br /> they are placarded with a board sign with red letters at least <br /> six inches high upon a black ground containing the words " Explo- <br /> sives - Danger ". <br /> Section 2: whereas the above ordinance is necessary for the <br /> proper protection of property within the city of -Iverett from fire, <br /> an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinanance <br /> shall take effect upon its passage and public ti n. <br /> D. s D.'
