April 12, 2021
www.dykeman.net 1716 West Marine View Drive
425,259,3161 (T) 2nd Floor / Everett, WA 98201
9 D E"ENE
APR 13 ppjl 0
James Bronder— Plans Examiner CITY OF EVERETT
City of Everett Planning and Public Works. Permit Services
3200 Cedar Street
Everett, WA 98201
RE: Community Transit Maintenance Improvements and Expansion, B2101-001 and M2101-014
Dear: Mr. Bonder,
This letter contains responses to your correction notices dated March 16, 2021 and March 26, 2021.
Responses to comments are in Italics below.
ARCHITECTURAL — B2101-001
The report on Hazardous Materials Storage (dated 12-21-2020), indicates that the Expected
Storage of Hazardous Materials (Table 4) are exceeding the increased Limits for Sprinklered
Buildings (Table 2). Based on the conditions described, this would require an occupancy of H-2 or
H-3 occupancy. The report concludes that "...Community transit will implement storage and
management practices to maintain the stored quantities within the allowable limits.". Please
indicate what these storage and management practices are such that the allowable storage
limitations are maintained under the IBC and IFC provisions as it is currently unclear from the report
how this is being achieved or identify on the plans where such H occupancies are occurring on the
construction plans as it pertains to hazardous materials per IBC 307.1.
Per the original construction documents, the existing Acetylene Tank and Oxygen Tank
storage rooms are 1-hour rated, accessory H-3 uses, as noted on sheets CS1.1 and A1.11-
MB.
The Paint Mixing room, located outside the main building to the west, is a prefabricated, 2-
hour rated room and is listed as an H-3 accessory use on sheets CS1.1 and A1.11-MB.
Other materials are to be stored in existing and new flammable safety cabinets located
throughout the facility. These cabinets and capacities are shown on sheets CS1.1.
STRUCTURAL — B2101-001
2. Permit calculations appear to include wind out -of -plane wall checks. However, it appears that out -
of -plane wall loading from ASCE 7-10 Sec. 12.11.1 may govern the design. Please verify and
provide additional calculations that proposed walls are adequate.
See attached response letter from the Structural Engineer.
3. Permit calculations indicate global diaphragm checks. However, it appears that the out -of -plane
anchorage connection design calculations are missing for metal deck diaphragms. Please indicate
or provide additional calculations addressing these elements. ASCE 710 Sec 12.11.2.1,
12.11.2.2.2.
See attached response letter from the Structural Engineer.
CIAD-- 0
ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN
