EVERETT POLICE DEPARTMENT POLICY MANUAL <br /> 6.4 PROTECTIVE VESTS <br /> Officers assigned to administrative and investigative duty(primarily plain clothes)are <br /> encouraged to wear the protective vest but it is at the discretion of the immediate supervisor;it <br /> must be available at the department for instant use if necessary. <br /> The protective vest shall be worn when executing search warrants and making planned arrests. <br /> It is the policy of the Everett Police Department that all officers in uniform will wear a protective <br /> vest with both front and back panels. <br /> EXCEPTION: Medical conditions may preclude the wearing of a vest but must be verified in <br /> writing by a physician submittedthrough the Chain of Command. <br /> EXEMPTION: Officers assigned to the Marine Unit are exempt from this policy while engaged <br /> in on the water activities. <br /> Officers wearing the ceremonial dress uniform are exempt from this policy. <br />
