April 12 2017
Allan Giffen
Director, Everett Planning and Community Development
2930 Wetmore Avenue Suite 8A
Everett WA 98201
Dear Mr. Giffen,
Work at the Providence hospital construction site has caused damages at our house, which is
located thirty yards east of the site. In the past month pounding from what sounded like a pile
driver repeatedly shook the house, like a series of earthquakes. Impact from the pounding was
strong enough to break the restraining strap that held the Frontier Communications connections
box to the basement ceiling, causing the box to fall and break apart. This left us with no primary
telephone and no interne connection for over a week. Impact from the pounding also moved the
basement freezer several feet, so far that the electrical cord was pulled out of the socket. All the
food in the freezer thawed and had to be thrown out. Fortunately, the gas furnace and its
connections look like they have not been damaged.
We are dismayed that the Planning Department is allowing the use of such heavy equipment near
to residences. In addition to our current losses we are concerned about the long-term effects of
the pounding on the structural integrity of the house.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Connie Veldink
1208 Lombard Avenue
Everett WA 98201
425-259-5589
cveldink@gmail.com
Cc: Mayor Ray Stephanson
