SPECIFICATIONS:
<br />1. THE GENERAL, SUPPLEMENTARY AND OTHER CONDITIONS OF THE CONTRACT,

<br />4. WORK INCLUDED: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM ALL THE WORK REQUIRED
<br />(INCLUDING THE FURNISHING OF ALL SUPERVISION, LABOR, SERVICES, TOOLS, MATERIALS
<br />AND EQUIPMENTAND THE PERFORMANCE OF ALL OPERATIONS AND INCIDENTALS
<br />NECESSARY) FORA COMPLETE, SAFE AND RELIABLE ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION,
<br />ADJUSTED, TESTED AND READY FOR OPERATION. THE ELECTRICAL WORK (NEW AND
<br />MODIFICATION OF EXISTING) IS GENERALLY DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:

<br />M. OBTAINING AND PAYING FOR ALL REQUIRED LICENSES, PERMITS, INSPECTIONS AND
<br />FEES.
<br />5. WORK NOT INCLUDED: THE FOLLOWING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM RELATED WORK WILL BE
<br />PROVIDED BY THE OWNER, GENERAL CONTRACTOR, OR OTHER SUBCONTRACTORS WORKI
<br />DIRECTLY WITH THE OWNER:
<br />A. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR: MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS LOW VOLTAGE
<br />CONTROL WIRING, CONDUITS, DEVICES, ETC. SEE MECHANICAL SPECIFICATION
<br />SECTIONS AND SCHEDULE ON DRAWINGS.
<br />B. TELECOMMUNICATIONS WIRING SYSTEM.
<br />C. VIDEO SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS & WIRING.
<br />6. EXISTING CONDITIONS: BEFORE SUBMITTING BID, EXAMINE EXISTING SITE AND
<br />EQUIPMENT CONDITIONS TO DETERMINE EFFECT ON EXECUTION OF THE ELECTRICAL
<br />WORK AND INCLUDE COSTS IN BID.
<br />7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE WORK AND COOPERATE WITH THE OWNER,
<br />OTHER TRADES, AND SYSTEM CONTRACTORS TO HAVE THE WORK COMPLETED TO THE
<br />BEST ADVANTAGE, INSURE THERE ARE NO INTERFERENCES, PROVIDE REASONABLE
<br />OPPORTUNITY FOR THE OTHER TRADES AND CONTRACTORS TO COMPLETE THEIR WORK
<br />AND TO NOT DELAY THE WORK.
<br />8. WORK UNDER THIS PROJECT WILL BE UNDERTAKEN WITH THE FACILITY IN FULL OPERATION
<br />9. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WORK TO AVOID DISTURBANCE TO BUILDING
<br />OPERATIONS AND PERSONNEL, AND TO ALLOW ACCESS FOR BOTH PERSON TO AND
<br />WITHIN ALL PORTIONS OF THE FACILITY AND VEHICLES TO THE FACILITY. ACCESS TO
<br />OFFICE SPACES, CLASSROOMS, ETC. WILL NOT BE ALLOWED WHEN THEY ARE OCCUPIED.
<br />ANY AND ALL COSTS INCURRED FOR NON-STANDARD HOURS, DOUBLE SHIFTS, OVERTIME,
<br />ETC. OR ANY OTHER COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH COMPLETING THE PROJECT WITHIN THE
<br />COMPLETION TIMES REQUIRED SHALL BE INCLUDED WITHOUT INCREASE IN CONTRACT
<br />SUM.
<br />10. THE COMPLETED INSTALLATION SHALL BE DONE IN A NEAT & WORKMANLIKE MANNER,
<br />SHALL BE SUITABLE FOR THE LOCATION, AND SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE ALL LAWS,
<br />RULES & REGULATIONS IN EFFECT AT THE SITE (INCLUDING THE LATEST EDITIONS OF
<br />THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE (NEC), THE WASHINGTON STATE ELECTRICAL SAFETY
<br />STANDARDS, ADMINISTRATION AND INSTALLATION CODE (WAG 296A6B)
<br />AND THE WASHINGTON STATE ENERGY CODE).
<br />11. CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING THE FIRE RESISTIVE RATINGS
<br />FOR WALLS, PARTITIONS AND OTHER BUILDING STRUCTURES. INSTALLATION OF
<br />NEW SYSTEM COMPONENTS MUST MAINTAIN THE EXISTING FIRE RESISTIVE
<br />RATING OF THE PENETRATED BUILDING ELEMENT.
<br />12. ALL SYSTEMS, EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, RACEWAYS, CABLES, ETC. INDICATED ARE
<br />NEW UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
<br />13. ALL ELECTRICAL MATERIALS SHALL BE "UL" (UNDERWRITER'S LABORATORIES, INC.)
<br />LISTED, LABELED AND APPROVED FOR THE SERVICE INTENDED WHERE UL STANDARDS
<br />HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED. ALL ELECTRICAL MATERIAL SHALL BE NEW UNLESS
<br />SPECIFICALLY NOTED OTHERWISE.
<br />14. ALL OPERATIONS SHALL BE CONDUCTED IN A MANNER TO AVOID THE RISK OF HARM TO
<br />PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. DAMAGE SHALL IMMEDIATELY BE REPAIRED.
<br />CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT& TOOLS SHALL BE IN GOOD OPERATING CONDITION, AND
<br />BE DESIGNED FOR THE WORK REQUIRED. VERIFY WITH STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
<br />ACCEPTABLE LOCATIONS FOR CORE DRILLING FLOORS, WALLS, ETC. FOR CONDUIT
<br />ROUTING.
<br />15. POWER INTERRUPTIONS (WHETHER TO THE ENTIRE SYSTEM OR TO INDIVIDUAL
<br />BUILDINGS, PANELS, EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, ETC.) SHALL BE KEPT TO AN ABSOLUTE
<br />MINIMUM, AND SHALL NOT BE DONE WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL, 2 WEEKS
<br />ADVANCED SCHEDULING & COORDINATION MEETING WITH THE OWNER. SECONDARY
<br />VERIFICATION THAT POWER INTERRUPTION WILL OCCUR IS ALSO REQUIRED 48 HOURS
<br />PRIOR TO THE DATE OF OCCURRENCE. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO GENERATOR & ATS
<br />TESTING WITH BUILDING LOADS.
<br />16. CABLE, BOXES, ETC. SHALL BE STORED OFF THE GROUND, PROTECTED FROM THE
<br />WEATHER IN RACKS OR BINS, OR ON SHELVES. EQUIPMENT, WIRING DEVICES, CIRCUIT
<br />BREAKERS, ETC. SHALL BE STORED INDOORS IN A DRY, WARM AREA; FREE OF DUST&
<br />ONE IN WHICH CONDENSATION WILL NOT OCCUR.
<br />17. EQUIPMENT, BOXES, ETC. SHALL BE INSTALLED PLUMB & TRUE, AND BE FIRMLY
<br />SUPPORTED EITHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY BY A SOUND & SAFE STRUCTURAL
<br />MEMBER.
<br />18. ROUTING OF EXISTING CONDUITS INDICATED IS APPROXIMATE ONLY.
<br />19. VERIFY ALL EQUIPMENT, DEVICE, ETC. LOCATIONS WITH THE OWNER PRIOR TO
<br />ROUGH -IN.
<br />20. DEFINITIONS
<br />A. THE TERM "CONTRACTOR" USED THROUGHOUT THESE SPECIFICATIONS AND ON
<br />THE ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS SHALL BE UNDERSTOOD TO MEAN THE ELECTRICAL
<br />CONTRACTOR. ALL OTHER WORK SHALL BE CALLED OUT BY NAME.
<br />B. "FURNISH" MEANS TO SUPPLY AND DELIVER TO THE PROJECT, READY FOR
<br />INSTALLATION AND IN OPERABLE CONDITION.
<br />C. "INSTALL" MEANS TO INCORPORATE IN THE WORK FINAL POSITION, COMPLETE,
<br />ANCHORED, CONNECTED, AND IN OPERABLE CONDITION.
<br />D. "PROVIDE" MEANS FURNISH AND INSTALL.
<br />E. F.O.I.C. - FURNISHED BY OTHERS, INSTALLED BY CONTRACTOR.
<br />21. SUBMITTALS
<br />A. PROVIDE SUBMITTALS TO THE ENGINEER, TOGETHER, ATONE TIME, SEPARATED AND
<br />INDEXED FOR EACH SPECIFICATION SECTION. INDIVIDUAL OR INCOMPLETE
<br />SUBMITTALS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
<br />B. THE ENGINEER WILL REVIEW EACH SUBMITTAL, INDICATE ACTION TO BE TAKEN,
<br />AND RETURN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALLOW FOR 1 1/2 WEEKS FOR ENGINEER
<br />REVIEW MINIMUM. COMPLIANCE WITH SPECIFIED CHARACTERISTICS IS THE
<br />CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY. APPROVAL OF SUBMITTALS DOES NOT RELEASE
<br />THE CONTRACTOR FROM A PROPER INSTALLATION, COMPLIANCE WITH THE

<br />THE WALLS, ABOVE THE CEILING OR BELOW THE FLOOR WHERE POSSIBLE, EXCEPT,
<br />EXPOSED WITHIN UTILITY & OTHER NON-PUBLIC SPACES. WITHIN PUBLIC SPACES,
<br />WHERE DUE TO THE BUILDINGS CONSTRUCTION, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ROUTE
<br />RACEWAYS & CABLES CONCEALED, RACEWAYS MAY BE RUN EXPOSED WHEN
<br />APPROVED BY ARCHITECT. EXPOSED RACEWAYS SHALL BE RUN AS NEATLY &

<br />B. ALL WIRING BETWEEN FLOORS SHALL BE ENCLOSED WITHIN A RACEWAY SYSTEM.
<br />C. PROTECT"OPEN" CABLE WIRING FROM ROUGH AND/OR SHARP EDGES ON
<br />SUPPORTS, STRUCTURAL MEMBERS, ETC. AS REQUIRED DURING INSTALLATION.
<br />D. WIRE AND CABLE SIZES INDICATED AND/OR SPECIFIED ARE MINIMUMS ONLY AND
<br />SHALL BE INCREASED AS REQUIRED DUE TO NEC, SYSTEM, LOAD,

<br />STRANDED, #12 AWG UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, WITH 600V TYPE XHHW OR
<br />THHN/THWN INSULATION.
<br />F. CABLE SHALL BE INSTALLED OR DRAWN INTO THE CONDUIT SYSTEM ONLY AFTER
<br />ALL WORK OF ANY NATURE THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY TO THE CABLE IS
<br />COMPLETED. THE CONDUIT SYSTEM SHALL BE COMPLETE, SNAKED AND CLEANED
<br />BEFORE PULLING ANY CABLE.
<br />G. "OPEN" CABLES SHALL BE BUNDLED AND SUPPORTED FROM PERMANENT
<br />STRUCTURAL MEMBERS OF THE BUILDING, EITHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, WITH
<br />SUITABLE HOOKS. SUPPORT SPACING SHALL NOT EXCEED 5 FEET. PROTECT
<br />"OPEN" CABLES DURING INSTALLATION IN CEILING SPACES. CABLES SHALL NOT
<br />INTERFERE WITH THE REMOVAL OF PIPES OR EQUIPMENT FOR MAINTENANCE OR
<br />REPAIR. ALL "OPEN" CABLE SHALL BE KEPTA MINIMUM OF 6INCHES FROM PIPES,
<br />DUCTS, AND OTHER ITEMS PRODUCING HEAT. SUPPORT"OPEN" CABLES A
<br />MINIMUM OF 6 INCHES ABOVE T-BAR CEILINGS. TAPE AND CABLE TIES ARE NOT
<br />APPROVED METHODS OF FASTENING CABLES.
<br />27. CABLE SUPPORTS
<br />A. SUPPORTS FOR CABLES RUN "OPEN" ABOVE CEILINGS AND THE LIKE SHALL BE
<br />WIDE BASE TYPE J-HOOK ASSEMBLIES. SUPPORTS SHALL BE MADE OF
<br />GALVANIZED STEEL AND HAVE MINIMUM 2" DIAMETER.
<br />B. SUPPORTS FOR LARGE BUNDLES OF CABLES (MORE THAN 50 CABLES) RUN OPEN
<br />ABOVE CEILINGS, IN CRAWLSPACES AND THE LIKE SHALL BE WIDE BASE FABRIC

<br />28. GROUNDING:
<br />A. ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, BOXES, DEVICES, SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A
<br />GROUND FAULT RETURN PATH BY MEANS OF THE INTEGRITY OF THE METALLIC
<br />CONDUIT SYSTEM (WHERE APPLICABLE) & AN INSULATED GROUNDING
<br />CONDUCTOR INSTALLED WITH THE CIRCUIT CONDUCTORS. CONDUIT SHALL BE
<br />CLOSELY & TIGHTLY FITTED IN COUPLINGS, CONNECTORS, ETC. AND BE PROPERLY
<br />BONDED TO PROVIDE AN ELECTRICALLY CONTINUOUS LOW RESISTANT GROUND
<br />PATH. CONTINUITY TESTS SHALL BE MADE TO VERIFY THE CONTINUITY OF THE
<br />GROUNDING SYSTEM & ALL GROUND FAULT RETURN PATHS.
<br />B. EQUIPMENT GROUND CABLES SHALL BE 1/C COPPER, WITH 600V TYPE XHHW OR

<br />SELF-ADHESIVE CIRCUIT NUMBERS, MASKING TAPE, PLASTIC PUNCH TYPE "DYMO"
<br />LABELS, ETC. ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
<br />30. LIGHTING
<br />A. THE LIGHTING SYSTEMS AND ALL CONTROLS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
<br />WASHINGTON STATE ENERGY CODE (WSEC).
<br />B. LIGHT EMITTING DIODE (LED) LUMINAIRES SHALL HAVE A LUMINOUS EFFICIENCY OF
<br />AT LEAST 90 LUMENS/W, AN ESTIMATED LIFE OF AT LEAST 50,000 HOURS AT 70%
<br />LUMEN MAINTENANCE, AND SHALL INCLUDE A MINIMUM 5-YEAR WARRANTY ON
<br />THE ENTIRE LUMINAIRE INCLUDING THE DRIVER. THE LUMINAIRE AND LEDS SHALL
<br />HAVE BEEN TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH LM-79 AND LM-80.
<br />C. FIXTURES, LUMINAIRES, POLES, ETC. SHALL INCLUDE ALL NECESSARY MOUNTING
<br />AND CONNECTING ACCESSORIES. PROVIDE NEW MOUNTING HARDWARE AND
<br />NEW SUPPORT WIRES FOR EXISTING FIXTURES TO BE RE -INSTALLED.
<br />D. CONTRACTOR & LIGHTING FIXTURE SUPPLIER SHALL VERIFY DESCRIPTION &
<br />CATALOG NUMBERS IN LIGHTING FIXTURE SCHEDULE ON THE DRAWINGS MATCH
<br />AND MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS ARE CORRECT. ADVISE ENGINEER OF ANY
<br />CONFLICTS OR DISCREPANCIES.
<br />31. LIGHTING CONTROLS
<br />A. OCCUPANCY SENSORS SHALL BE COMBINATION PASSIVE INFRARED & ULTRASONIC
<br />TYPE, CEILING OR WALL MOUNTED (AS INDICATED), WITH ADJUSTABLE TIME DELAY,
<br />ADJUSTABLE SENSITIVITY, AND AN LED INDICATOR. LENSES SHALL BE AS REQUIRED
<br />FOR THE APPLICATION, THE SENSORS SHALL BE ABLE TO DETECTTHE DIFFERENCE
<br />BETWEEN A HUMAN BODY AND THE BACKGROUND SPACE. OCCUPANCY.
<br />OCCUPANCY SENSORS SHALL BE GREENGATE OAC-DT-2000, HUBBELL OMNIDT2000,

<br />NORMAL POWER IS INTERRUPTED. RELAY SHALL CONSIST OF A SINGLE SELF-
<br />CONTAINED UNIT COMPLETE WITH VOLTAGE SENSING AND RELAY SWITCHING
<br />CIRCUITRY, TEST SWITCH, REMOTE ACTIVATION AND INDICATOR LIGHTS. RELAY SHALL

<br />32. FIRE DETECTION & ALARM SYSTEM (EXISTING)
<br />A. SYSTEM SHALL BE A MODIFICATION AND EXPANSION TO THE EXISTING EDWARDS
<br />SYSTEMS EST-3 SYSTEM IN THE BUILDING. ALL COMPONENTS SHALL BE
<br />SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO INTEROPERATE WITH THE EXISTING FIRE DETECTION
<br />& ALARM SYSTEM.
<br />B. EXISTING SYSTEM SHALL BE MODIFIED AND NEW COMPONENTS SHALL BE
<br />INSTALLED BY, OR UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF, A QUALIFIED
<br />REPRESENTATIVE OF THE MANUFACTURER. PROVIDE CALCULATIONS TO SUPPORT
<br />THE SIZE OF THE EXISTING STAND-BY BATTERIES WITH THE ADDITION OF NEW
<br />DEVICES. PROVIDE LARGER STAND-BY BATTERIES IF REQUIRED.
<br />C. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT COMPLETE SETS OF FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
<br />SUBMITTALS AS REQUIRED TO THE CITY OF EVERETT FIRE MARSHAL FOR
<br />APPROVAL AND PAY THE PLAN REVIEW FEES.
<br />D. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ARRANGE FOR INSPECTIONS AND PAY FOR ALL
<br />REQUIRED LICENSES, PERMITS, INSPECTIONS, PLAN REVIEW FEES AND ANY
<br />OTHER FEES. ALL NECESSARY PERMITS AND APPROVALS SHALL BE OBTAINED
<br />PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
<br />E. SYSTEM SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS OF NFPA#72 (NATIONAL FIRE
<br />ALARM CODE), INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE, INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, ADA &
<br />CITY OF EVERETT REQUIREMENTS.
<br />F. DEVICES & DETECTORS
<br />1. DEVICES (SMOKE DETECTORS, HEAT DETECTORS, PULL STATIONS, ETC.)
<br />SHALL BE 2 WIRE, 24 VDC, SUITABLE FOR USE WITH & COMPLETELY
<br />COMPATIBLE WITH THE EXISTING FIRE DETECTION & ALARM SYSTEM.
<br />2. DETECTORS SHALL BE 2 PIECE, CONSISTING OF A BASE AND SEPARATE
<br />PLUG-IN HEAD.
<br />3. PULL STATIONS SHALL BE NON -CODED, MANUAL, SINGLE ACTION, ENCLOSED
<br />MANUAL RESET TYPE, FLUSH MOUNTED. MATCH EXISTING.
<br />4. SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL BE IONIZATION OR PHOTOELECTRIC TYPE,
<br />SUITABLE FOR ITS FUNCTION & LOCATION WITH SCREEN (OR OTHER METHOD)
<br />TO PREVENT INSECTAND DUST CONTAMINATION, TEST SWITCH & LATCHING
<br />LED. SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL BE SUITABLE FOR THE TEMP. & HUMIDITY
<br />FLUCTUATIONS, AND BE IMMUNE TO ELECTRICAL NOISE FROM H.I.D. AND

<br />G. SIGNALING DEVICES
<br />1. FIRE ALARM SPEAKERS SHALL BE 70 VOLT DC, MULTI -TAP AND SET AS REQUIRED
<br />TO PROVIDE THE MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE OR CODE REQUIRED SOUND LEVEL.
<br />2. FIRE ALARM STROBES SHALL BE 24 VOLT DC, MINIMUM AS INDICATED
<br />(EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY ADA OR THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION TO
<br />PROVIDE THE MINIMUM REQUIRED INTENSITY LEVEL THROUGHOUT THE
<br />SPACE) WITH CLEAR POLYCARBONATE LENS AND FIRE LETTERING. STROBES
<br />THROUGHOUT SPACE SHALL BE SYNCHRONIZED.
<br />3. FIRE ALARM SPEAKER/STROBES SHALL BE AS ABOVE; EXCEPT, COMBINED INTO
<br />A SINGLE ASSEMBLY.
<br />DEMOLITION:
<br />1. CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE EXISTING EQUIPMENT, FIXTURES, DEVICES, ETC. AS
<br />INDICATED IN THE WORK AREA AND ALL ASSOCIATED CONDUIT, BOXES,
<br />CABLES, ETC. SHALL BE REMOVED TO THEIR POINT OF ORIGIN &/OR DESTINATION.
<br />2. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, CONCEALED RACEWAYS ARE ALLOWED TO REMAIN,
<br />EXCEPT, WIRING SHALL BE REMOVED. EXISTING CONCEALED RACEWAYS ARE
<br />ALLOWED TO BE RE -USED IF IN GOOD CONDITION & SUITABLE FOR THE NEW
<br />INSTALLATION.
<br />3. EXISTING FEEDERS, CIRCUITS, CONDUITS, CABLES, ETC. INTERRUPTED DUE TO THE
<br />SYSTEM UPGRADE SHALL BE RE -CONNECTED AS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN THE
<br />ORIGINAL FUNCTION.
<br />4. ALL SURPLUS MATERIAL REMOVED DURING THE DEMOLITION SHALL BE INSPECTED
<br />BY THE OWNER, AND THOSE ITEMS SELECTED SHALL REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF
<br />THE OWNER. ALL REMAINING SURPLUS MATERIALS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE
<br />SITE & DISPOSED OF BY THE CONTRACTOR ACCORDING TO ALL APPLICABLE
