What can be done here? "-per Paul's email dated 2/28/2024.
Stair Manufacturer-Gabriel$ Sons Welding Auburn,WA
Visser En ing eering Federal Way.Job#: 24007 Steel Mono-stringer Stair Design Calcs
ZED Response: The purpose of this letter is to document revisions of the stair plan and details and
calculations prepared by the Visser Engineering above.
It is noticed that the stair case is not wood frame per the approved set of plans. The steel stair is a
three-flight mono-stringer stair with two resting platforms as shown on the site photos pages- 3
and 4 and shop drawings.
The stair plan, connection details and calculations are the concept of the Visser Engineering in
coordination with the manufacturer and the owner Paul Kukhotsky. The design follows the
"Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures ASCE7-16" Standard and
"International Building Code IBC 2018, 2021"in coordination with the design parameters
specific for the site location of the new residence and bear the seal of the professional engineer
Mike Visser P.E. S.E. registered in the State of Washington.
The stair does not have the shop welding inspection reports. Therefore, a site special inspection
will be required by a WABO certified agency, page-9.
The structural support for the stair will be provided by a 6"xl4"post inside wall framing as
shown on page-3. Calculations attached to this memo pages-6, 7, and 8. The railing stanchion top
connection to the tread was calculated based on a 3-1/8"x3-1/8"base plate and 2-5/16"center
hole spacing. Supporting calculations on page-5.
1/11
