April 6, 2016
Allan Giffen, Planning, provided a brief overview of the proposed
ordinance.
President Murphy invited public comment.
Robert Cramer, Everett, asked for more information about the criteria
developers must meet to qualify for tax exemptions. He also expressed
concern that the housing shortage in Everett could expand the program
even further if the City is unable to find affordable housing.
Allan Giffen responded that there are additional requirements, outlined in
EMC 3.78, that go above and beyond the development standards, as well
as exemptions that encourage the development of more housing.
Moved by Council Member Roberts, seconded by Council Member
Bader, to close the public hearing.
Roll was called with all council members voting yes, except Council
Member Franklin who was excused.
Motion carried.
COUNCIL BILL 1603-13
THIRD AND FINAL READING:
AN ORDINANCE expanding the Multiple Family Property Tax
Exemption Area, and amending Ordinance No. 2347-98, as
amended (EMC Chapter 3.78)
Moved by Council Member Bader, seconded by Council Member Moore,
that this is declared to be the third and final reading of Council Bill No.
1603-13, and the city clerk is directed to call the roll for the final disposition
of the ordinance.
112
