Over a 3-month period the Committee examined and <br /> evaluated the Charter,took public testimony and held two public hearings. The Committee's work, including <br /> findings and recommendations, is provided. The Committee is advisory to Council;the report represents the <br /> Committee's recommendations. <br /> This briefing is intended to highlight the work done by the Charter Review Committee, discuss Council's <br /> role at this time, look at possible scheduling and answer questions Council may have. <br /> According to the resolution Council adopted establishing the Charter review process to be followed for 2016, <br /> Section 5 provides: <br /> City Council shall review the report submitted by the arter Review Committee,to determine if any or all <br /> of the recommended Charter amendments shall be p ced on the ballot for consideration by Everett citizens. <br /> Further, Council may determine that proposed Charter amendments be placed on the Ballot in addition to <br /> those recommended by the Charter Review Committee. If it is determined that any or all of the recommended <br /> Charter amendments should be placed on the ballot for consideration by Everett citizens, City Council, <br /> pursuant to Charter section 16.1, shall adopt an ordinance directing that the recommended Charter <br /> amendments be placed on the ballot. The ordinance shall direct that each of the proposed Charter <br /> amendments be placed on the ballot as separate questions to be voted upon by the Everett citizens. <br /> 1 <br />
