ZAP ENERGY <br /> ZRD-SPL-001 <br /> 1.3 Zap Energy Radiation Protection Policy and Dose Limits <br /> In the current research and development phase, Zap Energy treats the personnel involved with the <br /> operations of the fusion devices,which include the operators and the physicists(called"operators' <br /> hereafter), as individual members of the public for their occupational dose limit. Therefore, the <br /> total effective dose equivalent to the individuals of the operators shall not exceed 100 mrem in a <br /> year, exclusive of the dose contributions from background radiation, from any medical <br /> administration the individual has received, from exposure to individuals administered radioactive <br /> material and released under chapter 246-240 WAC, from voluntary participation in medical <br /> research programs, and from the licensee's or registrant's disposal of radioactive material into <br /> sanitary sewerage in accordance with WAC 246-221-190. <br /> 1.4 Occupancy Factors and Dose Limits for Shielding Design <br /> The general classification of the areas and their occupancies are listed in Table 1 and more details <br /> for each specific location are listed in Table 2. The classification of the areas and their occupancy <br /> factors are referenced from the NCRP Report No. 144 [1] and the NCRP Report No. 147 [2].
