SNO-ISLE TECH 2O23 SMALL WORKS Section 00 70 00, Page 54 <br />McGRANAHAN ARCHITECTS GENERAL CONDITIONS <br />10.2 SAFETY OF PERSONS AND PROPERTY <br />10.2.1 The Contractor shall take reasonable precautions for the safety of, and shall provide reasonable <br />protection to prevent damage, injury or loss to: <br />.1 Employees on the Work and other persons who may be affected thereby; <br />.2 The Work and materials and equipment to be incorporated therein, whether in storage on or off <br />the site, under care, custody or control of the Contractor or the Contractor's Subcontractors or Sub - <br />subcontractors; and <br />.3 Other property at the site or adjacent thereto, such as trees, shrubs, lawns, walks, pavements, <br />roadways, structures and utilities not designated for removal, relocation or replacement in the course of <br />construction. <br />10.2.2 The Contractor shall give all notices and comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, rules, <br />regulations and lawful orders of public authorities bearing on safety of persons or property or their <br />protection from damage, injury or loss. <br />The Contractor shall comply with the safety regulations set forth in "Safety Standards for Construction" <br />and "General Safety Standards" and any other requirements published by the Washington State <br />Department of Labor and Industries. <br />The Contractor shall comply with the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSHA), <br />including all revisions, amendments and regulations issued thereunder, and the provisions of the <br />Washington Industrial Safety Act of 1973 (WISHA), including all revisions, amendments and <br />regulations issued thereunder by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. The WISHA <br />regulations shall apply to all excavation, trenching and ditching operations. In case of conflict between <br />any such requirements, the more stringent regulation or requirement shall apply. <br />10.2.3 The Contractor shall erect and maintain, as required by existing conditions and performance of <br />the Contract, reasonable safeguards for safety precaution, including posting danger signs and other <br />warnings against hazards, promulgating safety regulations and notifying owners and users and adjacent <br />sites and utilities. The Contractor shall maintain at the work site office or other well-known place at the <br />work site all materials (e.g., a first aid kit) necessary for giving first aid to the injured, and shall establish, <br />publish and make known to all employees procedures for ensuring immediate removal to a hospital or a <br />doctor's care, persons, including employees, who may have been injured on the site. Employees shall <br />not be permitted to work on the site before the Contractor has established and made known procedures <br />for removal of injured persons to a hospital or a doctor's care. The Contractor's and/or any <br />Subcontractors shall ensure that at least one of such employees has a valid, effective first aid card. <br />10.2.4 When use or storage of explosives or other hazardous materials or equipment or unusual methods <br />are necessary for execution of the Work, the Contractor shall exercise utmost care and carry on such <br />activities under supervision of properly qualified personnel. <br />mcg-ARC 2120.000 February 28, 2023 <br />
