The AFH has a checklist for the inspectors and the State licensing agency. Before the inspection can occur, we perform plan review,which documents the revisions to the building for public safety. The plan submitted does not contain enough information for us to make that determination. Please revise and resubmit as follows: 1. Please provide a floorplan showing the current uses of the work area and the existing nature of the building BEFORE the AFH conversion. 2. The current floor plan is not legible. All drawings should be legible as they are a permanent public record of the life safety of the structure. 3. A bedroom requires smoke alarms, emergency egress windows, heat, minimum ceiling height, etc., all of which must be shown on the proposed floor plan. This is regulated by the International Residential Code. 4. Depending if the room was previously heated or not,the Energy Code may also apply. 5. Bedrooms require electricity, which is governed by the National Electrical Code, and would require an electrical permit if the room needs to be upgraded to be a bedroom. The requirements for a bedroom are different than storage, or a garage, or other room types. The existing use of the room determines the extent of the code requirements. 6. All of this needs to be clear in your submittal to continue my review.
