Battery powered smoke <br /> alarms are permitted for alterations, repairs, and additions per R314.6 Exception 2. <br /> 6. (IRC R315.2.2) Existing dwellings must also meet the same requirement for carbon monoxide alarm as <br /> new construction. <br /> R315.2.2 Alterations, Repairs, and Additions <br /> Existing dwellings shall be equipped with carbon monoxide alarms in accordance <br /> with Section R315.2.1. An inspection will occur where alterations, repairs, or <br /> additions requiring a permit occur, or where one or more sleeping rooms are added <br /> or created. <br /> a) (IRC R315.3) Please provide a carbon monoxide alarm in the IMMEDIATE VICINITY each sleeping <br /> area. <br /> b) (IRC R314.3) Please provide a carbon monoxide alarm on each floor(including basement). <br /> c) (IRC R315.5) All carbon monoxide alarms must be interconnected where if one alarm sounds all <br /> alarms will activate. (IRC M1505.4.3) Please provide a 100-cfm exhaust fan for the kitchen hood, and a 50-cfm exhaust fan <br /> for each bathroom per Table M1505.4.3(3). <br /> 10. (WSEC-R R402) Please provide R-21 insulation in all exterior walls where insulation has been removed. <br /> Please provide R-49 insulation in all exposed attic spaces. <br /> Structural (Reviewer: Cal Bearman) <br /> 11. Details for the construction of the new walls should be included. The details should specify connections <br /> for the top and bottom framing plates to the existing structure. See IRC Sections R106.1.1 and R301.1. <br /> 12. The project may involve structural modifications that do not comply with the prescriptive limitations of <br /> the IRC.The new ceiling/roof framing shown as "ccg joists" on the re-submitted plans is located below <br /> where the porch roof framing bears on the home roof framing. It was unclear to the inspection team <br /> what the intent was of the additional framing at this location as it appeared to be intended to help <br /> support the un-permitted porch roof.
