These comments are for the use of the Shockey Planning Group
(Shockey) in preparation of the SEPA checklist for the project. Our comments were requested by •
Shockey.
Background
We previously completed subsurface explorations on the project site, installed one ground water
observation well, and have subsequently monitored ground water levels in the well. We
previously prepared a report dated September 22, 2010 that presented our subsurface data and
provided preliminary recommendations for geotechnical and infiltration feasibility issues. In
general, our explorations on-site encountered dense glacial advance outwash sediments below the
site, with ground water observed at depths of approximately 39 feet below the ground surface.
Slope Considerations
The site contains slopes along the south boundary that may meet geometric criteria that would
classify them as critical areas subject to critical areas development standards. Our September 22,
2010 report provides a detailed discussion of the on-site slopes and supports an exemption from
critical areas regulations.
Mapped steep slopes exist off-site to the east, along the drainage of Pigeon Creek. These steep
slopes need to be addressed as part of the SEPA checklist, which is being prepared by Shockey.
Kirkland • Everett • Tacoma
425-827-7701 425-259-0522 253-722-2992
www.aesgeo.com
